Title: Open Bash - The Aftermath!
Description: Bloody ace day!

Death Korp - May 3, 2008 04:40 PM (GMT)
I thought may post after the absolutly fantastic day i have had :)

Had an hours journey home, and i thought i may post this to say thankyou for todays event. My dad and i have enjoyed blowing things to pieces (and my dad vortex grenading the relic!), and it as nice to put names to faces.

I want to say thankyou to the people who organised this, and i hope next years will be even better!

DK + Major Catastrophe

MutantMaggot - May 3, 2008 05:59 PM (GMT)
Aye ... seconded. It was good to have a few battles, as well as have an opportunity to see the citadel miniatures hall etc.

I have also been notified of a BL day/event in two weeks, whcih is good. :)

So thanks for an enjoyable day! (Though I forgot to support the site by buying a T-shirt. Ah well. Too late now ... <_< )

jasevx - May 3, 2008 06:07 PM (GMT)
Sal will hunt you down!

Stressfull apocalypse with the size of it, but we set the WHW record at 110,558 points (thats basic points not counting Assets or formation points. Only thing I haven't included is the two monoliths, so if a Necon player can let me know what points they are I can finalise the points and email GW with the results.

Big thankyou to all who attended, and a HUGE thankyou to all the GW staff who supported us, especially Brian who was at our beck and call.

Rictus will follow up with photos, but we had 30 players on the Apocalypse board at one point!

We are all off for a meal now, to celebrate.

charlie_c67 - May 3, 2008 08:32 PM (GMT)
Or collapse? Big thanks to you for all you did! (and Sal, she's not that scary now I've met her, provided you don't talk about mini's, nerds, rocks...)

Incidently SC, are your crutches the same size now?

And for all those who, like me had a wtf moment at a certain point during the apoc game...coughdigitscough

You get funny moments like that with a few Apoc games, my measly solo Hardened Vets squad held up 2 Defilers in close combat in the last big game I took part in :D

Good to hear the WHW record was broken at least though, grats on that front. I'm eagerly looking forward to the rest of the pics :D

Keravin - May 3, 2008 09:02 PM (GMT)
The WTF moments down the table to the right of Charlie were when the Biotitan turned around and started running away from the Marines.

Oh and when all those Nids got distracted by a little Blood raven infiltration behind them :)

Ha! Yes, that will teach me to read the Apoc book!!!!

Never mind, I still thoroughly enjoyed the two days I spent down there.

Great game yesterday with Matt, Col and Jase. 10,000 points of Apoc on the table, with Mats super duper spg making short work of Jase's superduperpoopa tank!!! Damn glad you talked me into buying all three basilisks now!!! ;) Great game guys, we'll do it again...

To Sal - thanks for having us last night and letting Jase out to play.!

To EVERYONE today! Well done - we have a fair sized record to be proud of, but mostly, I enjoyed meeting you all. Great bunch of guys and great to put faces to names!! Another unexpected bonus was that seeing some of your armies for real just goes to prove what crap photographers you are!!!! Of particular note, I was struck by the work of Old Guard and Grizz - wow!!!

I very much look forward our next meet.

I'd also like to thank the staff at WHW for being so tolerant of us!

Well done everyone. To those who were unable to attend, you were in our thoughts. :)

charlie_c67 - May 3, 2008 09:10 PM (GMT)
Was slightly worried we get in a bit of trouble when we had the "sexysounds from hot babes" adverts coming on the big screen though...

Old Guard - May 3, 2008 10:20 PM (GMT)
what like the one below? poxy things is still there!

nice one charlie you managed to get both mine and digts manly profile in those pics (I have SO got to go on a diet)

It was great to meet everyone (with the possible exception of someone who kept popping up in the most annoyng places ;) digits knows what I mean)

Thanks to Angel Robertson and Chelsea for the company on the drive there and back.

looking forward to the next one

Later guys

Daemon-Forge - May 3, 2008 10:47 PM (GMT)
It was a great day, cant wait for the next one!

the_great_gonzo - May 3, 2008 11:10 PM (GMT)
I was quite dissapointed not being able to get down, So I took Mrs Gonzo shopping before she started work. picked up a couple of baneblades, an army case and a heap of odd and sods (cheap airbrush, cutting mat.......the list goes on) Mrs Gonzo really wishes I had gone now, it would have been cheaper for her!

Glad you all had a great day, I was watching you while inbetween cutting my grass this afternoon, deep joy!

Sexy sounds is more apealing to me than the "gay-parish" banner when I last changed my avatar, is someone trying to tell me something???

Casualties:

AWOL none

Troopers medivac'd: two

Vehicles U/S: two Landraider Crusaders, box dropped!

Digits - May 4, 2008 12:06 PM (GMT)
Ouch!

I'm missing Appoc FW supplement book, one small template, two scatter dice and no doubt a handful of red dice!!!
Still, a cheap price to pay.....

jasevx - May 4, 2008 12:14 PM (GMT)
Which books that, the Armour book?

Digits - May 4, 2008 12:27 PM (GMT)
Yup! :(

jasevx - May 4, 2008 12:28 PM (GMT)
I'll ring GW, it could have been handed in accidently

Digits - May 4, 2008 12:33 PM (GMT)
Cheers. Cheap enough to replace, but it does mean I'm going to have to generate stat sheets for all these fw variants. It's a dead weight of books to cart around with me anyway!

In fact, if anyone has started a list of stats already, please pm me!

hiveminion - May 4, 2008 03:17 PM (GMT)
I got home from my holiday yesterday just in time to see some of you on the WHW webcam, congrats on the 110,000 points record! Sounds like it was an awesome day, can't wait to see some more pics. B)

firestorm - May 4, 2008 05:57 PM (GMT)
Indeed, sounds great, looking forward to pics also - and to next year's event, when I will hopefully be able to attend with my Legion of Taurus Chaos Marines! B)

Asmodai Dark - May 4, 2008 06:24 PM (GMT)
My favorite moment of the day

Chris: Mark were going to have to stop rolling for zombies
Mark: Why?
Chris: Because we've run out of zombies.

Ill post pictures up later, but SSSZOMBIES is an awesome game to play but we were fairly lazy and kept playing go fish with the forgeworld staff....

'Do you have death riders'
'No... go fish'
'What about... standing death korps?'
'No... go fish'

I eventually came away with a firing squad with more flash on then a kodak camera and a squad of death guard... and bugman... and that bat thingie from LOTR... and I ordered a death guard dread and a squad too.... :D

Daemon-Forge - May 4, 2008 06:40 PM (GMT)
Asmodai Dark indeed it is a good game, i am starting to clean up some ghouls for zombies as you said we ran out lol wasnt it 30+ zombies on the table????

cant wait to play it agin its so fun, and a laught.

i got 2 out of the 12 things with my first order...then i just got random bits lol,

Deserter - May 4, 2008 06:51 PM (GMT)
Mark (AsmodaiDark) gets to know a certain LotR character...

Rictus - May 4, 2008 06:53 PM (GMT)
AD just can't get enough of some hardcore orc action.

Angel Robertson - May 4, 2008 07:34 PM (GMT)
It was comments like that that held the day together!

And it was a satchel not a handbag!!

Many thanks to OG for carting us up there and back, i will be honest the the 4 pints of strongbow consumed whilst playing didnt sit great in the car lol!

Only cassulty was a broken vindicare but i suppose its what i get for dangling him off a ruin lol.

My game against shrike was very good! A hard fought draw, dam scattering pie plates!

AR

scrubout - May 4, 2008 07:52 PM (GMT)
Mark you naughty boy! Poor Steve missing out on that action...but I imagine the cast would make it harder to enjoy.

I managed to see a large gathering of weirdos with similar shirts on, I am certain that was our tribe. Can't wait to see more pictures.

You didnt spew, despite the chines style chicken stick! (I've seen anything look less like chicken in my life  ), so no probs. Besides company leased car, just hand it in for valeting :)

Rictus - May 4, 2008 08:29 PM (GMT)
Pics of the Apoc game are now up here:

http://z3.invisionfree.com/The_Ammobunker/...?showtopic=2317

Angel: It was a bloody handbag, you soft southern ponce...then again I am presuming you didn't have hair straighteners in it like a certain "gentleman" who came from accross the northern border.

A couple of other pictures:

The only Warhammer game on the day:

(There was a LotR one as well but I missed getting a picture)

AD & Deserter busy man handling zombies, and in the case of Deserter looking manically at AD as though he doesn't really know what is going on but he is just going with it anyway.

KayvaanShrike - May 4, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
First of all, I am just back at my flat in Edinburgh after the weekend, needless to say I am a bit tired!

Weekend went really well, and was great fun! Good car journey down with Grizz, SC and Deserter. Note to you all, SC is crud at navigating.

Many thanks again to Jase and Sal and their family for their hospitality and letting us stay, and sorry for keeping you up til the small hours both nights!

I have some pics of mine and Angel Roberstons 40k game, and so does he, so they will get put up soon.

Keravin - May 4, 2008 09:00 PM (GMT)
Likewise Grizz and I have pics of the Nid massacre of my marines. It was revenge for losing the Apoc game :)

Rictus - May 4, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
You didn't swerve under the wheels of a passing lorry on your way back then Kayvaan, I knew you had made it as far as dropping SC and Deserter off but I was half expecting to hear something on the news tonight...

If anyone has pictures of the Apoc battle can you please post them in the thread in General covering it, it will be better than have them spread out all over the place in different threads. Linky here.
