Just incase anyone wondered how I did the bloodletter thats been in my log recently.
Its pretty easy to do, with the rest of my 'letters I plan on batch painting groups of 3-5 just to keep some sort of sanity.
All paints are GW unless noted. The 'letter is undercoated black.
Stage 1The basecoat. Nice and easy this one, 2 thinned coats of Mechrite red. You could get away with one, but 2 thin coats will give a more even colour in the long run.
Stage 2The definition. Wash the figure with a 50/50 mix of black and brown ink, watered down by about 50%. Doesn't look pretty right now but it serves a purpose.
Stage 3Adding colour. Over-brush the figure with blood red. This is essentially dry-brushing, but with a wet brush instead of a dry one.
Stage 4The real painting begins. Highlight the tops of the muscles, back frills and faces with a watered down 50/50 blood red bazing orange mix. Once you've done that add a little more orange to the mix to highlight the scales and add more definition to the face.
Stage 5Glazing and clean up. Glaze the red with a very thin red glaze. Aim for 2 coats of glaze to tie everything together.
At this stage go back and clean up any area that won't be red. In this case the claws, hellblade, facial details and horns. The horns have had a very quick and dirty blend into the red underneath.
Stage 6Starting the details. Basecoat the sword grip with scorched brown then dry-brush it with bestial brown. Dot the eyes in with skull white and the teeth with dheneb stone. The tounge is the most time consuming part at this stage. Basecoat with necron abyss then add elf flesh to necron abyss for 3 or 4 highlight stages. Add a spot more elf flesh to the mix to paint spots on the tounge. Glaze with thinned purple ink. Give the horns and claws a quick highlight with a 60/40 chaos black bleached bone mix.
Stage 7Metals. Basecoat the sword hilt with brazen brass and the sword blade with a 50/50 chaos black boltgun metal mix.
Stage 8Wash the sword hilt and grip with a thinned 50/50 mix of black and brown ink, and the blade with thinned black ink.
Stage 9Highlight the blade first with boltgun metal, then chainmail. Finally add scratches along the lenght of the blade with mithril silver.
Highlight the hilt with a 80/20 mix of brazen brass and chainmail, then a 50/50 mix of the same.
Stage 10More glazing. Add a couple of glazes of thinned brown ink to the hilt, and a thinned black ink glaze to the blade.
At this point i've also glued sand to the base and washed it with black ink.

From here all you need to do is base in whatever way you like and varnish. The example has had 2 coats of varnish - first GW's purity seal, then Testors Dullcote.
Once the varnish had dried thin some gloss varnish and go over the metals and tounge, just to make them pop a bit more.
Lastly, add blood to taste. This has been done with Tamiya clear red using
this tutorial.

Hopefully you've found this useful. Any questions feel free to ask.
