Title: Dipping

spikyjames - April 25, 2008 03:14 PM (GMT)
Hi all

Well i never thought i'd ever try dipping but i had a look at a few dipped armies at a recent tournament and decided to give it a try.

I decided to use "Army Painter, Dark Tone" for dipping.

Here's how it was done:

I first painted my minis with a base coat.

They were then dipped into the dip using a pair of pliers to hold on to the base.

Once the excess had been shaken off into the can I then shook them vigoursly and left them to dry.

Once dry they were then based and sprayed with "Testors, Dull cote".

Anymore questions feel free to ask and i'll answer as best as possible.

To the wife - "Don't worry dear, I won't be spending money on GW for ages, I can't paint fast enough to justify more than one army."

*Looks at Spikey James Dipping Tutorial*

To the wife again - "You know that holiday we were planning......"

Damn it to hell. This may lead to me buying loads more stuff. I don't know whether to be happy or sad having seen this...

Wow... that's impressive to say the least!

And I'm heading through to GW Edinburgh tomorrow, and I've always had a soft spot for Dwarves... damn you James, damn you...

Where did you manage to pick up the 'Dark Tone' though?

Thanks all.

The "Dark Tone" can be picked up from ebay and some online sellers. The ebayer i got mine from also has an online shop.

Hope that helps.

James

Does dipping leave a shiny finish? <_<

SJ, you seem to make everything you paint look amazing, however you paint it ...

And I thought I had finally escaped the temptations of inking and dipping ... ;)

That is one amazing army.
