Title: DaCones attempt to finally finish something
Description: anything, for once . . . again ;)

DaCone2 - April 21, 2008 09:58 PM (GMT)
Right, first of all some of you may remember my old Ork Log where i mentioned that i was going to put a pin in them, then do a bit of epic imperial guard.

So naturally this log is going to start with Vampire Counts . . .

Here are a few of the zombies that i have done:

They don't look stunning but they are fairly quick and are only 4pts each. Group shot ( which are rubbish pics sorry ):

I haven't quite finished them yet, i think the eyes need a bit more definition and the pink leg isn't done ( though it looks like some bizzare foam toy ), plus the bases aren't either. Any thoughts on them?

Here is the first test skeleton i did:

I didn't really fancy a clean colour scheme which is why its drybrushed and i don't know what colour clothes or shield to give it yet. Once again, any ideas?

Will the skeletons even fit in coherantly with the zombies? C&C welcome

Hey good to have you back mate, and these VC Zombies are awesome, nice and dead looking. good job.

Rictus - April 21, 2008 10:48 PM (GMT)
About bloody time you got the log started, for weeks it's been 'i'll start it tomorrow/the weekend' etc.

All you need to do now is do the rest of them...

Digits - April 21, 2008 10:59 PM (GMT)
And shouldn't the leg be blue? "nice" looking zombies pal!

Tony88 - April 21, 2008 11:59 PM (GMT)
Dude, the skintones on those zombies are crazy. Looks really effective, how'd you do it?

The Antipope - April 22, 2008 09:52 PM (GMT)
You have excelled yourself mate. That first Zombie has got lovely milky eyes and the clothes on all of them look amazing.

DaCone2 - April 22, 2008 10:33 PM (GMT)
KS, cheers mate. I take it you like reverand and the makers? :D

Rictus, it only took me 4ish weeks to finish two models. You make it sound like a long time.
I'll be starting the skeletons next i think though i'm still not sure of the clothes colours. Any ideas anyone? Might do them the brown that i used on the zombies, or maybe red?

Digits, leg? Blue? Eh?
The leg isn't done just yet. Wanted to do it a different colour from the rest of the skin but couldn't think what that might be. Ideas?

Tony:
Tallarn Flesh
Wash 2:3ish tanned flesh : liche purple
Dwarf Flesh
1:1 Dwarf flesh : Elf Flesh
Elf Flesh

Milky eyes is just Space wolf grey. I am going to put a tutorial about how to do the clothes tomorrow. Could have put more detail into them but they're only 4 pts after all.

Zombies look downright nasty, great work!

DanLee - April 25, 2008 02:34 PM (GMT)
Aha ! I'm back !
Your zombies look wicked mate , i think they're probably amongst your best models . And that skellie looks even better on here , the pics do them all justice .
BUT ... can you finish tem all ....
* cue daunting horrible music * .

DaCone2 - April 25, 2008 06:03 PM (GMT)
Some of my best models? :o
I think they're more gaming standard. I think the imperial fist, bretonian knight and ork kommando nob are my best models. ( this probably won't mean that much to anyone who hasn't seen my photobucket or isn't danny :) )

Cheers titan. I think the blood definately helps but i am running out of places to put the blood that isn't the same as on the others. Any ideas?

bram kuijpers - April 25, 2008 08:09 PM (GMT)
those zombies are disgusting! vile! gore and they STINK!.... just like real zombies B)
overall a pretty nice job ey

For skellies that have come up out of the ground, I would imagine no vivid colours as they would be thick with grime, thick with mud etc.

All blades would be totally rusted.

Skellies from dry tombs would be less distressed but should be dusty and colours will have faded.

DaCone2 - May 19, 2008 04:58 PM (GMT)
Welllll, 3 weeks later i have pretty much finished the first skeleton but to be honest i am not that fussed on it. ( though haven't done the best as i forgot . . . )

Not very happy with the skull as it went really bitty. ( look at the texture of it on the pics ) Thats one thing i find with foundation paints sometimes. Anyone else found this?

Also just realised that i had forgotten its belt. Dur.
Was thinking of doing a rust style wash on the metal too. Not sure yet.

Any feedback? :D

Cheers Bram! Always nice to hear.

Digits, i went for a dirty brown kinda colour for the clothes, same as the ones on the zombies to try and fit them in together a bit. I never could do rust well ;)

Rictus - May 19, 2008 05:03 PM (GMT)
Holy crap, you actually did update.

Only took two hours of nagging...

As I said I think it lacks the impact of the zombies but I still like him. Less cartoonish than some skellies you see.

Marovian - May 19, 2008 05:05 PM (GMT)
The zombies are looking good, would never have thought of using purple.

I like your skeletons, for some reason they remind me of the old school way of painting them, very heroquesty, well done.

schoolcormorant - May 19, 2008 05:05 PM (GMT)
I definetely like the bone, very cool, it has a real interesting look to it, nice work M. :)

Looking good.

You're definately making more progress than I am :P

Really loving the skin tones on those zombies.

DanLee - May 20, 2008 10:46 AM (GMT)
It don't look too bad mate .
He looks like a really old , weathered skellie , Grand Master Skellinter !
Bad joke , I know ...
I hope you'll do some more at some point , but what's next ? You were on about some epic weren't you ?
I'm going to be cheeky now and ask you if you could take some pics of mine ?

bram kuijpers - May 21, 2008 07:08 AM (GMT)
nice painting mate, see ya in 3 weeks

DaCone2 - May 27, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)
Rictus, ONLY 3 hours?
Seemed like much more!
The trial one i did was a little more green than that. I think i definately preferred the first.

Marovian, Heroquest was amazing. Not as good as Space Crusade though.

SC, Cheers mate, but how long did it take you and rictus to bug me into doing it? :D

Freebooter, what progress have you been making? Link?

Bram, got a quick update this time. Only 8 days!

DanLee, yep, a bit of epic this time. This is what i had done previously, though i haven't posted pics of them here yet:

schoolcormorant - May 27, 2008 04:43 PM (GMT)
Well done on the painting! It's been a damn while lol!

Liking the EPIC. Keep it coming!

Rictus - May 27, 2008 04:55 PM (GMT)
Christ, he wasn't actually telling lies, he has painted something.

What will be next? Hell freezing over, Burma opening its borders, SC going straight or GnR releasing Chinese Democracy....all are more likely to happen in the next month than another update appearing...

Go on...prove me wrong...
