Title: Plastic Cadian Kasrkin?

Penguin of Death - April 8, 2008 02:08 PM (GMT)
Has anyone seen any good conversion guides to turn a plastic Cadian (or other plastic mini) into a Kasrkin?

this is partly a cost thing, but mainly trying to get more poses of the Kasrkin

I havent tried it, as its only an idea... but you might be able to convert SM scouts with a few cadian bits (ie heads and lasguns (to convert to hellguns))... just an idea ;)

You could wait a few months Penguin of death...

There coming out soon enough.

I know, but I want one for the contest, and I don't think I can do it converting the metals

I'm sure Ive seen one, though it may have been a general conversion for making Guard with carapace armour, the main bit I remember was making a GS mold for the knee pads

There was a purty good guide on how to make some inforcers with plasic Scout legs, and Cadian Torsos in a white dwarf for Medusa Five but that was about two years ago? I don't know but I've modified about 20-30 of them for my =I= army. I'll post some pict's later.

Cheers.

I think it's a case of spotting what makes a Stormtrooper/Kasrkin:

-Kneepads (GS)
-Respirator (Pig iron heads on the way)
-powerpack (cut down vox pack?)
-guns wired to power pack

anything else?

I thought it was 2009 now before we got them.

Not sure...my source for Guard info is still saying end of the year (November/December-ish) and has apparently actually seen the models in some form or another. I can't really say any more as I don't want him to get into trouble, but it's probably vague enough to say that I think he's been provided with a very good idea as to exactly WHEN they'll be showing up :P

bringerofdecay - April 9, 2008 05:22 PM (GMT)
they will either be out with planet strike, which has been pushed back to early next year, or with a possible IG codex at the end of this year, i'd probably go with the planetstrike suppliment as we should also be getting a plastic valkyrie, the perfect match. i'll be buying all my storm troopers before hand, i can't imagine them looking any better than the current ones, nor can i imagine them costing any less, and i prefer metal for the most part.

there's a chap on ebay who sells the kasrkin for £15.99 including postage, i've dealt with him and he's top notch, i'll give you the link if you like.

edit, also sorry, i didn't read the OP properly enough, GS + pig iron heads is what i'd suggest. just out of curiosity what don't you like about the current poses? i have 20 of the buggers so far and they seem different enough to me, certainly far more varied than a lot of the plastic kits GW is churning out, and more varied than my other all metal army (GKs)

It's not a disliking of the poses, I plant to buy a squad of the metals, more just wanting to try and also wanting to convert something for the Spec Ops competition that could be very difficult witht the metal minis

fair play. yeah, got for placcy cadians and sculpt some bits and bobs

well, i've just had a go at converting a storm trooper from a standard plastic cadian...backup fig for the compo, you know. used plasticard for extra armor, chopped a lasgun down, chopped a vox pack down, wired gun to pack with guitar wire, used a head from the heavy weapons sprue...honestly, it's not that difficult, and i think it looks alright. overall, not a bad way to go; i could see a squad being worth the effort (in fact, i might just have to go all the way with this one...)

did you ever see the george dellapina 'plastic' Kasr kin? they were showcased in a WD about 2? years ago. I will see what I can find scan and PM,

by the way the metals do convert rather nicely If you are not hung up on hellguns only.

George Dellapina's Dragonslayers. White Dwarf 313 (Has Dwarves on the cover).
Is absolutely incredible sculpting...
