Title: Special Forces Competition
Description: Are you HARD enough?

Digits - April 3, 2008 03:01 PM (GMT)
OK, here are the rules.

This competition is for one single "Special Forces" figure.

Maximum figure base = 40mm

The definition is as follows. The figure must come from one of the Elite choices from any standard Codex. However, it must represent at least 80% living creature, by that I mean it may not be a dreadnought for example. The obvious exception being Necrons of course!

Any rulings will be by me and will be final!

The figure must be converted. We are looking for extensive use of additional kit, personalised weapons, climbing equipment, grav chute, night vision equipment, camouflage, etc etc.

Think in terms of Assassin, Agent, Rainbow 6, SAS, LRDG, Predator, MIB. Basically, when you look at the finished model, it's gotta scream;

"THIS GUY IS DAMN HARD!"

BTW, prize for this one is a £10 GW Gift Voucher. If anyone abroad wins, we'll sort something out! ;)

Right, you have until midnight, Sunday May 11th to complete this one. Plenty of time for one little figure!

Are you HARD enough to accept the challenge?!

EDIT: So that you are not tempted to roll out an old figure you have already done (not that we don't trust you of course <_< ), you have to post early WIP pictures with photographic evidence of the date!!

This'll be my entry, Veteran squad Veteran sarge with multi-purpose-combi-melta-grapple-hook-launcher ™, infrared tracking device, krak grenades, combat knife, rope, pouches, purity seals, and generally just a bad-arse look. Includes cameo-line power armour.

Looks a bit sloppy at the moment but the only way to get the arms right was loads and loads of Green Stuff and super glue. The answer to all life's problems!

Another afternoon well spent, now back to physics homework. <_<

El Diablo - April 3, 2008 06:36 PM (GMT)
Count me in for this one. I may even be able to deliver this time.

Deserter - April 3, 2008 06:39 PM (GMT)
I'm in too :) Maybes a demo trooper.

MutantMaggot - April 3, 2008 06:45 PM (GMT)
Elite? Does that mean special or rare for fantasy ...? <_<

If so ... I'm probably in. Damnit. This means I'll be modeling a Black knight
batting aside an attacking orc with his shield. Could be hard.

Out of interest, can I use a model I've painted the cloth on already, as I need to use that for the conversion?

Thanks,
MM

crassius47 - April 3, 2008 07:44 PM (GMT)
ahhh an excuse not to paint tanks, count me in. (runs off giggling towards bits box)

Ventris_Fellstorm - April 3, 2008 08:07 PM (GMT)
Okay, I'm in for this one.

-:D

Angel Robertson - April 3, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)

AR

russian_ben - April 3, 2008 09:42 PM (GMT)
digits would a inquisitor be ok as its a elites choice? i've all ready started it 2 or 3 months ago

scrubout - April 3, 2008 10:03 PM (GMT)
I believe your case russian ben calls for the tried and true picture next to a newspaper for proof image. ;)

This one is gonna be fun!

-scrubout

Fortier - April 3, 2008 10:06 PM (GMT)
I'm in!

Taarnak - April 3, 2008 10:45 PM (GMT)
I do believe that I am in as well.

~Eric

Keravin - April 3, 2008 10:45 PM (GMT)
Hmmm might do something for my Techmarines. I have a suitable body to start from.

Maelstrom - April 3, 2008 11:07 PM (GMT)
Im in i'll do the aspiring champ for my WB plague marines but for this i'll count him as a chosen aspiring champ with the mark of nurgle if thats ok?

Sotek - April 4, 2008 12:10 AM (GMT)
Im in
i already have ideas for assasins or some form of Khorne :D

Tony88 - April 4, 2008 12:41 AM (GMT)
Thought of a cool idea for an Imperial one

Digits - April 4, 2008 12:49 AM (GMT)
Hotting up a little! lol

OK, pretty much the answer to most questions is "yes".

However, if you alreadt started the model, you must post a picture with proof of todays progress, alongside newspaper or screen shot of bbc news page!

Again, so long as it is found in the Elites Section, it is valid. For fantasy, I believe this is called rare?. In either case, the figure has to stand out to everyone else as Special Forces.

Althanan - April 4, 2008 04:05 AM (GMT)
Can't guarantee anything, but I'll try to get something thrown together for this.

Should be fun :)

Foot_of_adhesive_tape - April 4, 2008 04:50 AM (GMT)
I would of liked to have done the duel one, but this will be fun!.
Count me in :)

EDIT
Well heres a very early WIP pic you asked for
user posted image
Well you wanted him to be damn hard :D

MutantMaggot - April 4, 2008 08:48 AM (GMT)
Either special or rare ...

OK, I'm in. I'll try to give you pictures, including what I've done already, but that doesn't mean I'll be able to finish it ... <_<

MM

Digits - April 4, 2008 09:01 AM (GMT)
Foot - needs a balaclava and an MP5! :P

Foot_of_adhesive_tape - April 4, 2008 10:27 AM (GMT)
Haha! i think the MP5 may be a tad too small for an Ogryn.

Argh i'm having too many ideas for this, either an Ogryn or a tooled up guardsman.

MutantMaggot - April 4, 2008 10:42 AM (GMT)
I've started work. Pictures later today ...

Basically, my figure is a conversion that uses various undead and Bretonnian models. The parts I'm using ...

-A pegasus body with filed-off wings (I no longer need pegasus knights, having begun a conversion to a VC force)

-The body and legs of the Bretonnian BSB bearer

-A KotR head with the crest removed

-A lot of skeleton parts!

I hope no-one will mind if I use him for my BoB as well? (If not, I have no objection. My force will hopefully be 2500pts by the end ... and I now have enough money! <_<

He may be used as a Wight King, yet for now, he's a Black Knight champion ...

Penguin of Death - April 4, 2008 11:10 AM (GMT)
Probably an irrelevant question by my track record but can we submit more than one entry?

Digits - April 4, 2008 12:08 PM (GMT)
Sure. B)

Foot_of_adhesive_tape - April 4, 2008 12:39 PM (GMT)
Awesome so more than one then? think i may do that.
