So how you use them is upto you really, but please keep that off this thread because I wont respond to it because officially, I cant...
Im also going to consider moderating anyone who posts in this thread how they intend to use the packs so that no intention can be seen. When the packs are done, I will be posting pictures showing them on a variety of models from different ranges so you can see them.
(Im really really sorry for deleting the old thread guys, I wasnt happy to do it but there was simply too many referances to clean up)
The money raised by these back packs will be use to fund out wonderful little website, pay the sculptors something for there troubles (and convince them to sculpt more stuff...) and pay for better equipment for casting!
The more you buy, the better site we have!
FAQQ - Will you be making more backpacks?A - Hell yes! Theres at least one more variant coming, and probably a lot more if these sell well.
Q - Whats the price?A - I honestly dont know yet because I havent started casting. There going to be between £3 and £5 for ten, and then a pound on top for postage
Q - Thats not too bad, especially as it helps the site, but Im a cheapskate, can I get a discount?A - Hmm well theres going to be a few ways to get a discount.
- Buy a AB t-shirt
- Win a compo (this applies to people who have already won...)
- Buy one of the larger sets
- Become a regular customer and ask nicely...
- Be SC in which case you deserve a discount for being SC. (SC I just found this edit, and your in big trouble!)
Q - What sets are you going to be selling initially?A - The sets are going to come in the following forms
- 'Squad' - 10 backpacks
- 'Platoon' - 25 Backpacks
- 'Company' - 100 backpacks
Q - What if I want EVEN MORE!A - Not on the list is the 'Battalion' pack of 1000 backpacks...
If you want this, please PM me as while I can do a discount, it'll take me the best part of a fortnight to cast, use more gallons of resin then I care to count, and will most probably break the molds. Theres also more a chance of miscasts as Ill just be casting them round the clock to get them done
It would however, fund this site for a long time to come, let me buy kit for casting, and generally make Mark a happy bunny...
Having said that, if I get two orders for regiments I'll be backed up worse then forgeworld...
Q - Can I sell these casts on?A - Theres nothing to stop you selling them.
But I dont want you to. And if I see anyone selling them on trying to make a profit, then I'm going to make buyers aware that I sell them cheaper.
Q - I know how to cast, could I buy the mold? A - Not a chance for the same reason as above. Some of the money is going to the sculptor, who still technically owns the piece so your then breaking there copyright.
Q - I heard from my mate your going to sell Westwind and Pig Iron heads with these backpacks, is this true?A - Yes and No. I really want to sell heads from both companies as a 'Veterans' pack but I obviously dont have associations with either company. Its not much point doing it with Pig Iron as there fairly cheap postage wise but westwinds a bit different...
What I'll probably do, is this.
- If you want a set of heads, PM me. For the first few months you'll have to order them in sets of twenty.
- Once I see which sets are popular, I'll buy up a fair amount of the three most popular and sell them in sets of ten so there 'proper' veteran packs.
In time though, we'll also be doing our own heads. I want to do ideally some beret heads and some womens heads.
Q - Can I see them on a model first?A - Yes. When the models are done Steve has volunteered to paint some example models up for us.
Not only that but Jasevx, Old Guard, Deserter, Captain Wolverine, and Strelok (the sculptor) will be doing a product review so you can get opinions from a range of people including the sculptor himself!
They will be asked to give frank and honest opinions, and I'll be doing the same thing with each set so hopefully you'll know if your getting value for money or not.
Q - I live in somewhere well foreign, can I still buy them?A - Course you can!
Just PM me first to sort something out because obviously it'll cost more postage.
Q - Alright, I've ordered a load of those heads BUT I've now seen your new backpack and its well cool! Can I swap?A - Yes.
The bags are going to come sealed up in a bag with the label stuck over. You'll have to send them back in this state with a self address envelope. Ill pay for postage, BUT I'll be marking the pack as 'swapped' so you wont be able to send and return them again and again. Also if the same people send them back again and again I wont be happy either.
This is going to have to be UK only though with regards to free postage - those overseas, give me a shout over PM.
Q - Is the next back pack going to have a bed roll/canteen/smoke grenades/panzerfaust/mess-tin/Squad Radio/entrenching tool?A - No, but...
We are hopefully going to do a Build Your Own Backpack (BYOB :D) set. This kit will have a backpack 'shell', and a pleathora of bits for you to customise the soldier. This however, is a fair bit down the line as it'll be a complex kit. Its also going to cost a bit more but personally, I know a lot of people will want this one.
The other that I might do is then break these up and sell them as bits once the kit has paid for itself mold wise.
Q - What else is in the pipeline?A - This isnt a definitive list, or a list of whats actually going to be made so... pinch of salt...
- 3 other backpack variants
- Beret heads
- Womens heads
- Machine guns
- 'BYOB' sets
- Ammo clips and boxes
As you can see, plenty of stuff in my head - any that have been listed are more then likely to be made as some things (the womens heads) Ii want for myself anyway...
Work In Progress!
UPDATE: I've had a word with Strelok - the first is nearly done. He's also going to do a pair of 'Wax Seals'. This is so all the excess resin doesnt go to waste, and also to rake in a bit more money. These will be a shed load cheaper to make BUT not worth posting out even in batches of 50.
Ill let you know more about these when I see how many get cast.
