Description: I think its good :)

A Best log compition: Since we are a Plog forum in many ways, why don't we have a compition every year to see who has the best log, and everyone votes on it! We can have a photoshopped thingy for the prize to put on the winners sig, saying 'Ammobunkers best ploger 2008'
Like it?

Were only a few months in yet but yeh sure, a AB awards thing sounds cool

Do you think so? Not everyone reads every plog as it is so some will obviously get the votes. Better to try and highlight different plogs than show off the ones everyone reads anyway.

Only do the more popular ones though lol!
Mabye you can have a mark scheme, like marks for having the most insparational models, and the person with the most dedication to keep 'plogging' on.

I think it would be good yet predictable: I can imagine SC's, Deadley's, Wolverine's, and Digit's logs getting most of the votes, with the others left behind ... or perhaps it could be on a specific topic: most characterful log, for example.

Personally, I like the fact we don't have a star rating system here and I also like the broad spectrum of work and the respect every log receives, we are ALL worthy of "best plog"!
As AD says, we are young as yet. Maybe this is something we can examine on or around our anniversary.

I'm with Digits here. If we do institute some form of recognition then there will be others that will be driven away (or at least angered ) because they didnt get mentioned or because "such and such style is better than this other style". The reason this site was founded was because somebody over at that other site got thier feelings hurt because they didnt get as much attention as some of us "Lemmings". (still upset at several mod's over that name calling of us by a certain daemonic mod)
If we implement some kind of recognition system then we invite in the same problems that caused us to leave other sites.
Edit: And we open ourselves to abuse. My log on the other site has two 5 star votes (unrealistic) a 3 star (probably realistic) and a single 1 vote (out of spite or mean-ness)

To be fair though Digits, the other site has an awards system that spreads across other things...
Its an idea that needs development though but worth coming back to around GD time..

i think we could have a man of honour type thing, where every year the mods pic a few (2/3) people who have done a lot of great things over the course of the year and this couldbe added under their avatar (ie man of honour 2008) mods would be excluded, but they're mods anyway ^^
could be done by way of vote, ie mods pic 10 names and the top 3 become man of honours for that year, or some other such suitable title.
they do something similar on another forum i frequent and there is very little animosity over it.

Though a bit off-topic, you don't have to feel offended as the name-calling back then was not directed at you. The Lemming-thing was not directed at those who went to the Ammobunker, the moderator was referring to something else.
Back on topic, while I can see why competitions and awards and such are fun, as has been said they can backfire. While of course winning is a trivial thing, people can still be disappointed when they don't even get nominated, for instance.
Also, I'm not sure if anyone really feels the need to have his/her log stamped as 'best'?

Cheers guys for the replies :)
Yeah... i see what you all mean about it.
But i still think an awards thingy should be introduced as the AB community gets larger :)
