Title: Daemonhunters, Raven Guard and Imperial Guard
Description: My DH, RG and now IG armies.
KayvaanShrike - September 29, 2007 06:43 PM (GMT)
Hey one and all!
I move back over to my flat tomorrow, and that is where my 40k stuff is, but I thought I would start this now as I am bored, and of in need of something to do!
Now as some of you will know my main army is Space Marines of the Raven Gaurd Chapter. Now this army currently stands at around 2000 points wiht most of that being painted, there are just a few units to do. At GD I added to this by buying a Linebreaker Squadron, FW Predator and the new vets.
My other army is a Daemonhunters army, at the moment this is very small, and I have not played with it yet, it is more a "see how well I can paint an army" kind of army.
So this log will mainly focus on me getting the rest of my RG finished. But whenever I paint something else I will chuck it in here for your viewing pleasure.
Here are some pics of my Daemonhunters army as it stands to get this log off the ground.
Will get some more pics when I get back to the flat of my Vindies and Vets etc.
Enjoy!!!

Those are some fantastic Daemon Hunters Shrike, are those Krieg in inquisitorial style? That's very cool!
I'm looking forward to seeing your Raven Guard, they've always been one of my favorite chapters, they don't restrict themselves to 'honourable' tactics, war's dirty and they know it.
Could I ask you one thing though, the new veterans, do they come with both arms separate or are they like the current ones, with one arm attached to the body? Thanks. :)
KayvaanShrike - September 29, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
Cheers Hive, yeah they are Inquisitorial Krieg, I can get some pics of them up if you would like to see them better?
4 of the new vets come with one arm attached, one not, the 5th guy (bolter guy) have both arms moulded in one place. Although it looks like you may be able to swap the arms about between them. But they are fairly sweet models it has to be said, and the Sgt doesn't look as silly this time.
At the moment I have to get the pics off my camera on the house computer then move them to mine, but when I move out I will pick up a mem card reader for my comp and so it might be a few days before I get any new pics up, though if there is anything else you want to see then ask and I will see if I have the pics already.
Konrad - September 29, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
Liking the Servo Skull toilet paper holder you got there :P
That's one big base for the Death Cult Assassin there. Nice work.
Deadley Hedley - September 29, 2007 08:25 PM (GMT)
Youve got some sweet minis there mate Looking forward to what you paint nest :)
KayvaanShrike - September 29, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
Cheers Deadley, well when I get set up at the flat I think I will crack on with some RG for a while, I promised myself I would finish what I had before buying anything more, apart from stuff bought on GD, so I think I will try to keep in line with that. There is not much heres the list.
Details on 1 Dev Squad
1 5 man Dev Squad
10 Tac marines
3 Terminators
1 Dreadnought
Think thats it.
Your choice what you want to see next.
Also if you want to see said RG, then just pipe up and say!!!

Ask and you shall receive
Dev Sgt

Dev Marine

Since this is a playing army, the paintjob is more neat and tudy than realistic (shading etc) but on my character models I put more effort in. Also I don't know what else to do with black marines other than highlight them grey lol

Sorry for the crap pics!
There you go.
Deadley Hedley - September 29, 2007 08:55 PM (GMT)
There sweet mate Looking forward to seeing some more :)
thewizardofoz - September 30, 2007 12:14 AM (GMT)
nice RG and Inq. i 2nd the request for krieg close ups.
hiveminion - September 30, 2007 10:00 AM (GMT)
Nice Raven Guard, I'm loving the Chaplain, nice touch with the iron halo fitted to the shoulder pad. B)
One thing I'd consider though is painting a small dot in the corner of the eye lenses, to make them really shine.
Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff!
KayvaanShrike - October 1, 2007 09:19 PM (GMT)
Right at the flat now, but don't really have the space to have 40k stuff continually set up, and will have even less space when I get my double bed put in. But have no fear I shall work something out!! I will get some new pics up of stuff when I get myself a memory card reader, think I will order one in the next few days so bear with me, pics will be on the way!!
For now here are some closer pics of the DK!

Enjoy!
thewizardofoz - October 1, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
mmm . . . death korps . . . inquisitor style . . .
i love them.
KayvaanShrike - October 2, 2007 06:24 PM (GMT)
Well I ordered a card reader so when I get that working I shall take some pics of things for you! I may go do some building or painting now, although my room is cold and its not making me feel very much like painting, but we shall see!!
MutantMaggot - October 2, 2007 07:18 PM (GMT)
As a lover of Raven Guard and Daemonhunters, what can I say but that bisyllabic word of praise ... Awesome.
MutantMaggot
PS> The DK really fit in with the inquisitors. Two amazing armies.
jasevx - October 2, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)
Your paintings vastly improved this year, those DKK are amazing
KayvaanShrike - October 2, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
Cheers Jase, I thought that my DK and all my Daemonhunters models have come out better than stuff I have done before. For some reason I can't seem to make black marines look that good though, and they seem to be really bright and fairly plain, so I think I will finish the RG and that way I have a decent looking though not great playing army, and can then maybe concentrate more on the DH and making them a better looking army, if not so playable.

KayvaanShrike - October 5, 2007 04:03 PM (GMT)
Ta for all the comments.
Well in the last few days I have done no modelling save for cleaning up one of the new vets. This is due to the ungodly hours I am in Uni, 9-5 most days, which you working adults will scoff at, but you must remember I am just off my summer hols where the earliest I got up was like 9am. ANd also a lack of space on my new desk means getting modelling stuff out is more hassle that it was at home. Also I can't put any pics up coz the damn Royal Mail have decided to f*** up everyones lives by striking again. But I shall post what I can when I get my card reader.
As a side project I will also be painting up the new Chaos Lord with Jump Pack, so any suggestions as to colourschemes etc would be much appreciated!
Galikoe3 - October 8, 2007 12:25 PM (GMT)
LOVE THOSE DEATH MASKS...so cool.
Looking foward to seeing more.
Deadley Hedley - October 8, 2007 12:28 PM (GMT)
I know what you mean about the royal mail ,My FW order is sat in FW stores  as for the black I understand what you mean its a so hard to get right ,Thats why I gave up my BTs :( So whats next for the DH ?
KayvaanShrike - October 8, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)
Well for the DH I still have some stuff to paint : -
2 GK's to finish
GK Dread to finish
Chimera to finish
Acolyte to finish
But I just bought a load of stuff for my Raven Gaurd and so won't be buying anything more until all that is done I think, that way I save some cash for now, and also gets me closer to a fully painted army, something I would love to have.
Also any ideas for colourschemes etc for that Chaos Lord would be good, and/or any particular painting style that would maybe suit it?
TheGrizz - October 8, 2007 10:52 PM (GMT)
Do you have an idea for what Legion/Renegade Chapter your Lord would be from? Or is he a Raptor lord, and thus the 'norm' doesn't apply?
Personally, I'd go with something that makes you think he looks 'predatory'...
Metallics, dark greys, blacks spring to mind.
Also, what stuff did you get for your Raven Guard?
KayvaanShrike - October 8, 2007 10:55 PM (GMT)
Hes the new Chaos Lord with Jump Pack, and having never played Chaos haven't a clue about whether diff types of Lords use diff colours or what?
I bought a Linebreaker Squadfron, Forgeworld Predator and the new vets. Started cleaning up the vets the other night, and painted more details on one of my Dev squads, its almost done now, just static grass to put on bases, and details on one more guy.
Konrad - October 9, 2007 06:08 AM (GMT)
Syupid royal mail. I look forward to more piccy goodness yo.
KayvaanShrike - October 12, 2007 07:47 PM (GMT)
Ahh and you all thought I had forgotten about you!!! Alas no!
Finally got my mem card reader today and so have uploaded some pics for you!

New desk set-up, pretty crap not the space I am used too, but hey

schoolcormorant - October 12, 2007 07:57 PM (GMT)
lo Gav :D
all looks well, though why is the tomato sauce by the computer?....

SC
KayvaanShrike - October 12, 2007 08:02 PM (GMT)
It was there coz I eat my tea there, and couldn't be bothered putting it back in the cupboard!
I am building them now, well one at least!
KayvaanShrike - October 12, 2007 10:04 PM (GMT)
Right I have been building one of my Vindicators. Not put the dozer blade on yet so I can paint behind it etc, same with some of the details, so it shall stay like this until I can crack some paint onto it, which won't be until Monday at the earliest.

Enjoy! If any one has questions about the new plastic vindies feel free to ask!
BDJV - October 13, 2007 02:33 AM (GMT)
Great lookin' stuff. The Inquisitorial Storm Troops rock! Can't wait to see more of your DH's.
ss_cherubael - October 13, 2007 08:54 AM (GMT)
awesome i loved this log over at warseer (the inq. stuff is sweet) good to know i can still follow it here.
the new vindicators look pretty cool, just asking line breaker quad for raven guard? kinda seems a bit odd doesnt it?
anyway looking forward to updates
KayvaanShrike - October 14, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
I don't intend to make my army big enough for Apoc, but I couldn't resist the Linebreaker Squadron, so I got one! Will only ever use one or two in games, if any!
And cheers for the comments guys, will try and get some more done in the week!
KayvaanShrike - October 15, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
Lookit I update!!
Here we have a COMPLETED RG Dev squad. There is another one too follow, but they are currently still plastic, not even primed. But I am glad to have these guys done.
Enjoy, C and C welcome, though they are only for gaming lol, not meant to be works of art!

Keravin - October 15, 2007 05:24 PM (GMT)
How did you find the new Lascannon to put together? I've got one to build for my Devs.
Looking good.
KayvaanShrike - October 15, 2007 05:29 PM (GMT)
Yeah it was fine, much easier than the damn metal ones. I think the H.Bolters and P.Cannons I still have to put together for my other squad will be ok as well. The other squad will be for killing infantry with 2 HB's and 2 PC's. This one is Anti-Tank and works well if I say so!
Digits - October 15, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
What is the shoulder marking? Is it a transfer?
Dav0r - October 15, 2007 08:01 PM (GMT)
Very nice minis you have there KayvaanShrike. Looking forward to see more :)
... especially those new vindies !
schoolcormorant - October 15, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
Gav, these look like some of you're best painting, the chest eagles are real neat :)
SC
KayvaanShrike - October 15, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
Ta guys, I do find each batch of guys I do certain little things are better than the last batch, be it the freehand symbols (kneepads) or the chest eagles etc. Keeping up with the good comments (if they are due) is helping me get better.
Digits, they are paper symbols I found on a website that you can make your own transfers, but just printed the paper symbols and stick them on, then go over them in Skull White to make them bright enough (the glue saturates the paper and makes them dull you see)
Next up will maybe be finishing my CC Termies.
Deserter - October 15, 2007 09:06 PM (GMT)
Some great looking stuff there :)
I love Radical =][=, your daemonhost looks cool, any chance of a close shot?
