Old Guard - February 11, 2008 11:17 PM (GMT)

Asmodai Dark - February 12, 2008 08:26 PM (GMT)
Im quite impressed that it dozen all slide off - although wouldnt they just use a power lifter with a flat bed chimera...
*AD douses the smugness with his mighty jealousy*
Old Guard - February 12, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
41st millenium magnetic ratchet straps
smugness topped up
there will be more Racks, I have to make 5 more of the ammo pallets for this one tough. After that fuel, general ammo crates.....
I also have plans for a reverse engineered medium DROPS (wheeled) using the Ork truck, same pallet system though
jasevx - February 12, 2008 09:21 PM (GMT)
Nicely done, can't believe you've built a working Trog machine!
Old Guard - February 12, 2008 09:43 PM (GMT)
Mini battlegroup in the making. All must be represented. though the heavy DROPS wagon will be dropshort dedicated. I have 2 more of my 'light' earthshakers to make to form a battery so they will need the ammo.
TheGrizz - February 12, 2008 10:31 PM (GMT)
*Points at some random point over OG's shoulder*
Look, a bloody huge eagle!
*Steals model and run's off cackling*
That, is one seriously cool model OG. Do you think you'd be able to knock up some instructions on how you made it at some point?
Old Guard - February 12, 2008 10:37 PM (GMT)
No probs, having aquired acheap PDF writer (about £20 and its kosher before anyone asks) every thing I do from now on gets photographed and a tutorial written so If you can wait a week or so I should get this puppy finished and will make the tut available.
charlie_c67 - February 12, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
So what're you gonna call it? The duck tank?
freebooter - February 12, 2008 11:40 PM (GMT)
Nice...
I really like it. Are we going to see any ingame use or is it just a cool modelling idea?
Old Guard - February 13, 2008 05:54 AM (GMT)
I might have to do a datasheet for it something on the lines of a 'reserve' vehicle with an effect along the lines of doubles the bassy firing per turn? with an extra large Mrs miggins pie plate size apocalypse template if its hit and all the ammo cooks off in a oner
Asmodai Dark - February 13, 2008 06:26 AM (GMT)
What about some kind of benefit that allows a re-roll of a one to all units using blast templates within 15", reducing by 6" each turn it remains on the board which get reset if it leaves at any point - that way you have to ferry it back and forth if you want a decent hit rate from more then one tank...
Penguin of Death - February 13, 2008 11:07 AM (GMT)
You could have them carrying small defensive weapon emplacements.
Make something the same size as you palette with a crew served weapon of some type. While in transit it is defensive for the convoy, then it can be dropped off at the destination, give it folding legs of some kind
Old Guard - February 13, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
yep like it, the ideas have merit.
AD did that tutorial come through Ok? if not then let me know and I will attempt again[COLOR=blue][COLOR=blue][COLOR=blue]
Asmodai Dark - February 13, 2008 09:32 PM (GMT)
Oh yes, it came through well and Ive begun spreading it amongst the mods with cries of 'OMG LOOK!' (Hope thats alright). I have my stormies sprayed and I'm ready to try out your bloody craft technique sometime in the next week or so.
Old Guard - February 13, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
excellent and yes of course spread it around at your leisure
like I have said on the tut, small quantities at a time and less is more.
I used 2 old metal cadians as a trial before letting loose on the 'propper' figures.
hope it goes OK and look forward to seing the stormies.
Galikoe588 - February 13, 2008 10:26 PM (GMT)
Awesome piece of kit you got there....I like it.

Gave this some thought whilst driving aroung yesterday and thought 'Hecules' might be appropriate. wht do you think
PS charlie old boy, are you heading to the FW open day or the 'bash'? if so, if you want a lift let me know, I will be driving so might as well do my environmentally friendly bit.
Asmodai Dark - February 14, 2008 06:52 AM (GMT)
Fits nicely, although surely Achillies would be more appropriate to fit with say, the Trojan :D
Old Guard - February 14, 2008 04:52 PM (GMT)
Achilles will do for the gun tractors though. Thanks AD good one.
Easy E - February 15, 2008 10:58 AM (GMT)
That's groovy.
Logistics; the forgot side of the war torn 40th millenium. But forgotten no longer thanks to Old Guard!
Old Guard - February 16, 2008 11:25 PM (GMT)
Quick update. thanks for the feedback guys, few more piicies to show.
well things have progressed and short of the addition of rivets (begins meditation to see himself through the ordeal) the Hercules is about there. first coople of pics are by way of showing you the inspiration for this

basically combining the two in order to support this the Achilles gun tractor (this is the command variant with the range finder counter battery radar and sighting system and is rare as Deamonhost poo) with the light pattern earthshaker.

and here are the updated pictures including another pallet load configuration, generator and additiona fuel. This whole thing has got me thinking about Munitorum resources parks (which is total madness but ther you go)

so there it is. i will start to type up a Tut tomorrow for Grizz which I will PDF and make available for anyone that wants it. (especially if AD has a look at how to attach PDF's in forumm Ahemm, Cough, splutter notsosubtlehint)
next on the list, 2 more Achiles (standard pattern) with the prospect of 2 more light earthshakers at some point.
Later
Deleted your extra [img] tag photo. -scrubout

Looking great, carry on the work.
scrubout - February 17, 2008 02:20 AM (GMT)
I'd be thrilled to death if you made a .pdf! This project is awesome.
I'll have to go and break AD's balls about this right now...

WHY??? What have I done now!
freebooter - February 17, 2008 12:08 PM (GMT)
Wow...
Loving that Light Earthshaker implacement...
Might just have to go hunt down your blog now to see what you have to say for yourself...
Old Guard - February 17, 2008 12:14 PM (GMT)
havent got one as yet, but will be working one one soon.in the meantime the gun emplacement you can find in the depths of 'the other place' probably under the old guard puts his eggs in one basket thread. I do have a range of pictures of this so if interested i could put them up here.
Mighty Dwarf King Wolverine - February 17, 2008 02:36 PM (GMT)
was the plcement in Gamesworkshop display cabinet
Old Guard - February 17, 2008 03:02 PM (GMT)
Yes I did have it there for a while, I also had a militia one with a half track and multibarreled launchers in there too.
Old Guard - February 17, 2008 04:31 PM (GMT)
HERETIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....double post!!!
Bugger! I've run out of stuff! I've used the last of my plastic tubing and H beam so I can progress no more! Now have 3 and 3/4 pallets. I've also ran out of these so I will need to source some more,

I have however done the tanker pallet, so more photoes for the tut detailing and eventual painting (no Rictus tendencies here  ) on the horizon.

I've been thinking, I may be able to use these as objective markers and stratagem markers (COD) which is great, kills 2 birds with the one stone.
If any one wants the tut on PDF PM me your E-mail address and I'll send it over once its complete.
Later guys
jasevx - February 17, 2008 04:50 PM (GMT)
You are such a smug git! Superb OG!
Old Guard - February 17, 2008 04:55 PM (GMT)
whaaaatttt???? I'm on a roll....its flat now, the filling has squidged out and its unedible but...
Asmodai Dark - February 18, 2008 06:27 AM (GMT)
Ill have a word with Vee and see if we can sort out some kind of PDF hosting thingie - saves you having to email everyone again as this loooks snazzy enough to be a cool flat bed Chimera...
Penguin of Death - February 20, 2008 01:56 PM (GMT)
So long as it's under 5Mb you can host PDF through a Yahoo account, in the My Briefcase section
