Title: The Three Dragon in all its glory
Description: Kill teams, Baneblades and maybe IG

Galikoe588 - February 8, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)
Thought I'd join the "brotherhood" to get my arse into gear and make some progress in getting somewhere with my force.

I have found myself with alot of time on my hands as my employers have let me go due to "capablity issues" concerning my duff hand.

So it seems that my marines will get some much needed if not deserved attention.

The first group to get it will be a 3 Dragon Order kill team that will go against tzaryn's marines.

It will consist of 5 marines at first and more added later using a xp system.

1-sgt-undecided on weapons or tech sgt
2-bolter marine
3-bolter marine
4-flamer marine or lascannon marine
5-bolter marine

Photos of progress posted saturday

Many Thanks Galikoe588

Welcome aboard dude, looking forward to seeing your stuff.

You got any conversions planned for your kill team?

Lt.Gregor - February 8, 2008 08:29 PM (GMT)
you should look at the death watch kill teams for rules. They rock!

Galikoe588 - February 9, 2008 12:37 AM (GMT)
I am planning conversions for them yes, but at first they will be basic marines.

The first conversion will be a Techmarine sgt, I'm hoping to get the look of a low ranking techmarine, a initiate into the the ranks proving his worth in battles by retrieving ancient technology and so on.

I will hopefully have in all eventual conversions a dynasty warriors look about them.

charlie_c67 - February 9, 2008 01:20 AM (GMT)
If they're Deathwatch I say Flamer and a sergeant with combi flamer and power weapon. Flamey killy nid death :D

Galikoe588 - February 9, 2008 06:39 PM (GMT)
Now i need greenstuff to do all the stuff i've planned for these guys...guess what gw swansea had none and the other model shop had none so I am somewhat peeved by this, to make myself feel better I bought 5 marines to get me started.

Then I'll see if tzaryn has some greenstuff spare.

Final line up

1Tech initiate sgt with power axe and bolter pistol.

1 space marine with bolter

1 spacemarine with flamer

1 sniper scout

1 scout with bolt pistol and "claw"

All followed with some fluff

Scout and marines in the same squad? Did I miss something here or is this a homebrew chapter?

I really like how grimy and tarnished your metal looks. How did you do that? Glad you've got a camera too!

Galikoe588 - February 15, 2008 05:22 PM (GMT)
Cheers scrubout

How I did the metal effect was by stipling citadel armourwash on a basecoat of chainmail

However as I have only 1/2 a pot left of the stuff me thinks I might have to try using black ink in the future.

Oh my four year old boy wanted a tank seeing I had these so....

He got this instead, wondering what I can scavenge off it when gets bored of it lol.

*EDIT*

I am having a quick break from painting them at the mo, downed tools at 22:30, will resume after a cup tea, so that prog pics can go up tomorrow.

I went and got myself a land raider so updates soon.

Penguin of Death - February 20, 2008 02:16 PM (GMT)
40k tanks are looking great, but I too am going to have to ask about the other tank - what make is it? looks like Mega Bloks but box is fuzzy, also are the tanks rubber? and finally how does it compare in size to the 40k stuff?

Galikoe588 - February 20, 2008 08:15 PM (GMT)
The lego in the tank is the same quality as the branded lego, it looks like a smaller company has made it. But still its really good for the price.

I will put a pic up here tomorrow of the lego tank and 1 of my 90% finished rhinos for comparison.

Can finally start work on my land raider on the weekend now, as my rhinos and vindicator are nearing the final stages.

Hoping to get the land raider I got to 50% completion before march so I can start work on 3 Rhinos for that month. Maybe get my hands on a whirlwind and FW bits and prepare for a Comms Rhino too.

Quick question aswell as the twin link lascannons on the side of the raider is it allowed to replace the heavy bolters on top with another set of lascannons?..

bringerofdecay - February 21, 2008 04:01 AM (GMT)
A: No

nice work btw, sorry i haven;t commented sooner, the metal is very good :)

Not according to standard codex rules, no.

Galikoe588 - February 23, 2008 09:41 PM (GMT)
After a long think............

I might have to show my codex the Tipex.....

I am having the extra lascannons.

Merceus - February 23, 2008 10:53 PM (GMT)
nice tank ;) oh, please tell me you'll remove the lego nubs!

Galikoe588 - February 24, 2008 01:39 PM (GMT)
I keep looking at that lego tank and thinking..."could I use it?"

I know there will be a bit of work involved in getting it away from the lego look it has now, but surely some plasticard and some stuff from my bits box could sort that out.

I think for 3 quid per tank I'd be a fool not to try, only snag I can really think might pose a significant problem would the tracks. Anyone know where I can get just the tracks from?

Help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Galikoe588 - February 24, 2008 07:42 PM (GMT)
.................FINALLY A PROPER UPDATE..........

Here are alot of WIP pics of my force so far, alll the tanks(excluding the big green nobbly one) are 95% complete.

They need more scripture, highlights and weathering before they are done.

the first four marines are nearlt complete as they need purity seals and other stuff doing..minor stuff really.

the vindicare assassin just needs some highlights on some things and the skull needs doing, and as you can see the rest of the marines need to get to that stage...after all that they will get some basing.

The L.Raider is going to have some more detailing done to it before I prime it, and the bikes are in nedd of some work before they are painted.

once I am halfway through these jobs, the GS will come out so I can start turning the new marines I'll be getting into more of the style I'm looking for the order.

Have just finished painting your standard bearer apart from some details i've just seen in your pics and the standard detail itself.

Looking good. Love the weathering on the tanks.

How are you basing them?

Galikoe588 - February 24, 2008 11:05 PM (GMT)
Just superglue and sand basically..just like the dread.

and before anyone says it.....I know about the mould lines on the four marines, will be rectifying(new word) that problem in all future marines.

@Tzaryn - for the banner I was thinking something along these lines.

Maybe incorperating the two in some fashion, I've seen your work so I trust whatever your decision is on this.

Maelstrom - February 25, 2008 02:02 PM (GMT)
Looking really good dude, as Tzaryn says the weathering is ace, how did you do it?

If you do those designs on the banner it will look awesome, look forward to seeing it :D

I'll see what I can do (much simplified of course - i'm no slayer sword winner!)

Galikoe588 - February 25, 2008 02:28 PM (GMT)
WEATHERING

Starting light to dark and top to bottom..

1st layer 80% snakebite leather 20% chestnut ink
2nd & 3rd layer same ingredients just alter ratio to desired effect.
(Making sure the last layer is more ink than paint)
4th layer 50% scorched brown and 50% chestnut ink
5th layer & 6th layer same ingredients just alter ratio to desired effect.
(Again making sure the last layer is more ink than paint)
7th & 8th layers just add tiny amount of black ink to ingredients above.
9th and 10th layers done by adding a bit more black ink each time.

then go over the entire model touching it up in places.

Looking good, just something I saw you might want to clean off the mold lines one them. I like the Banner Bearer especially the scarf?

Tzaryn - February 26, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
I'll be painting the outline details on the banner later.

Galikoe588 - February 26, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
Cheers tzaryn.

Here is the symbol I want on it, it is also the chapter insignia.
