Title: Airbrush Setup

Pickle - January 16, 2008 07:50 AM (GMT)
Im looking for a cheap airbrush set up, so far I am looking at these two,
http://www.etamiya.com/shop/product_info.p...roducts_id=5839 - 104 USD
http://www.airbrushcity.com/1600.htm - 89.99 USD

Plus postage and second one, you have to be in US so would have to get someone in US to buy it and send it for me.

Which one would be better or any other suggestions?

Airbrushes are one of those things...I find, out of personal experience, you're more likely to get a better result with a more expensive piece of kit...so, I'd go with the Tamiya if I were you. Only problem with that is that they're out of stock of the power pack you need to operate the thing....oops.

This is an excellent first airbrush in my opinion.

I would imagine that you could find an UK dealer easily enough for it as well.

There are several different kits for this series of brushes so prices will vary for them as well.

Hope that helps.

The aztek one are quite frankly just plain sh*t. Much problems with clogging nozzles and etc.

Iwata Hi-Line is the best and quite pricy for around 180usd including shipping on eaby. 4 days delivery time from Hong Kong...PM me if you want the url to the seller. My experince is broad with airbrush and I think you should listen to my advice.

Have fun!

It's like everything in life, you get what you pay for!

I suppose it very much depends what you will use it for. I'm happy with my £14.99 Humbrol one which is fine for slapping camo stripes on tanks! I suspect that for the serious painter though, £100 seems to be about the right mark.

my airbrush came in at about 30 quid, the compressor and hose making it up to 100. i suppose you could buy a mediocre air brush and decent compressor, and if you really get into airbrushing you could buy a more expensive one. Iwata definately seem to be the best. HS (search for simpletwotrade on eBay) do intermediate price airbrushes with all of the features of Iwata airbrushes, just not as well made. They still work very well though.

Um, ok. I have had mine for 10 years or so and I don't have trouble when I use it. Granted, I am not painting with it every day, nor would I expect it to stand up to that kind of wear and tear.

I do think it a bit ridiculous to purchase a $200.00 airbrush for painting models though. Especially for someone who has never used an airbrush before.

I only really want it for occasionally stuff and sometimes basecoats. So dont really want to spend loads. So may look at a 90 NZD compressor and a 40 dollar airbrush to get me started.
