Since I tend to convert and paint quickly, you may see more than one army in here. I'll start with my Winter-theme Guard, the 6th Kesselring, known as the Smokin' Aces.
Ever since the plastic cadians came out, I've always wanted to make an all footslogger army. The concept of the Ground-Pounder army interests me, as vehicles are oh-so-very fragile in 40K.
Also, I'm fascinated by the concept of what can be done with JUST the Cadian Sprues. There's enough bits and pieces on there to make all sorts of doctrines and models. But, there's a lack of melta and plasma gunners. I consider this to be an oversight, and I wonder about the design decision to make these available only in metal.
I will work on posting pictures, tutorials for what I do, and fluff. It'll be very hard to keep it to 250 points a month, as I'll blow through an entire army to tabletop standard in a week. So, we'll see what happens. :)
Here's the Army, from the IG Codex:
Doctrines: None. Straight up IG, just over 170 bodies on the battlefield.
[HQ] Command Platoon, Heroic Senior Officer, Medic, Standard Bearer, Commissar. 2x Heavy Bolter Sections, 2x Sniper/Demo Charge sections.
[TR1] Infantry Platoon, Command Squad w/3 Grenade Launchers, 3x Infantry Squads with Flamers
[TR1] Infantry Platoon, Command Squad w/3 Grenade Launchers, 3x Infantry Squads with Flamers.
[HS1] Heavy Weapons Platoon, Command Squad w/Honorifica Imperialis and Missile Launcher, 9 Missile Launcher Squads
[HS1] Heavy Weapons Platoon, Command Squad w/Lascannon , 9 Lascannon Squads
[HS1] Heavy Weapons Platoon, Command Squad, 9 Mortar Squads
---------
Note: I know full well that this isn't an "Optimized" Army. :) This is for the fluff, not for winning tournaments.
Here's a shot of stuff I had worked up, pre-january. I have 3 lascannons, 3 mortars, and 3 missile launchers already assembled and painted, which will not count towards scoring.
