Having decided that painting 3 armies over 6 months would be a bit too much, I have decided to stick to the army of which I have the most models currently available; I currently have around 1500-2000 points of unpainted (and in some cases, unassembled) Orcs and Goblins, and although I won't be using all of them in this army, it will make life a bit easier (and by easier I mean cheaper ;)), so heres the intended army list and a little backstory for ya :):

No Orc, save perhaps Skullcrack da Dour, Skargrim's bodyguard and personal banner bearer, can say where Skargrim's origins lie, some say he was originally one of Grimgor Ironhide's Immortulz, who broke away to forge his own army, others say he was one of the first black Orcs to have been made by the corrupted dwarves that dwell in the fiery holds of Zharr-Naggrund, and has crossed swords with Sigmar himself, such a claim would make him one of the oldest of his kind in existance, a claim that seems more believable for those who have seen him; dwarfing even his bodyguard, Skargrim's height is close to that of a troll, and every inch of him is covered in muscles and scars, for so bloodthirsty is Skargrim, that any day not spent fighting is a day wasted in his mind. Skargrim also commands total respect among his troops, with his every word taken as law; regular orcs, being seen as weaker and more prone to infighting than the black orcs that Skargrim has incorperated into his army, are usually killed on sight, the two exceptions to this being two orc shaman brothers, who Skargrim has given the names "Old Gregg" and "Mad Bob", these shamans have regularly advised Skargrim on where he should go to find the most worthy adversaries or the most treasure (for Skargrim's love of battle is almost matched by his love of gold, and the now-orc occupied dwarven hold of Grung Azgal serves as Skargrim's personal fortress, containing more accumalted wealth than most other races could dream of, and protected at all times by several of the black orc tribes that Skargrim has crushed in battle and now set to task as guards, the sheer number of which has rendered the hold pretty much impenetrable, keeping Skargrim's precious wealth safe.
When Skargrim goes to war (which is often, for there are many fights to be had and much treasure to plunder), he often takes a small selection of his most loyal troops, these boyz are privliged enough to be allowed to paint their armour in the same manner as their warboss, of course, such a privlidge does not come without risk, for any boy Skargrim feels is not pulling his weight will meet a swift, and usually pretty bloody end, as such, the boyz tend to pull their weight. Small tribes of goblins will often fight alongside Skargrim as well, for although they are weak and prone to fighting amongst themselves, Skargrim has a certain fondness for them, viewing them in the same way a parent might view a small, particularly malicious child, allowing them to take part in the fighting and occasionally gifting them a hold he deems too insignificant for himself. He has also recently had a giant join his army, the giant, who he refers to as "Da Big Git", holds its warboss in great regar, often seeking to emulate him by strapping various bits of metal to itself and stamping on things.
Skargrim's current WAAAGH! has lead him to the Worlds Edge mountains, where, according to his shamans, a true foe worthy of his skills awaits him...

Anyways, for this month i'll be painting up Mad Bob and some blorcs, i'll post up pictures ASAP :).

Hmm, nice fluff, well worth the read.
Maybe break it up into paragraphs more though.

Not sure how effective the armylist will be, do you actully plan on making an effective army, or just a themed fluffy one?

Bit of both :).

Greenskins! :D
Sounds good. How will you paint them?

Dracomancer - January 6, 2008 09:53 PM (GMT)
[smartarse]Green :P[/smartarse]
Lol, but seriously, they'll be quite a few colourschemes going on; Skargrim and his boyz will have a dark red colour scheme with black checks and dags (like this sorta, only a bit darker, and with slightly darker chipping, as i'm not really a fan of the effect shown there), whereas the other units will have kept their own colours (the blue boyz for example, will have blue armour and warpaint, whilst the firey gitz will have red robes and some will have flaming torches (should be a nice excuse for attempting to sculpt flame as well ^_^), i'll make sure to add what colours I used when I post pictures to help everyone get a decent idea of how I did what :).)

Anyways, current status on the painting front: The first blorc I tried to paint, will regrettably have to go into the paint stripper; the new primer I bought has buggered up the model good and proper (damn car primers :(), however i've managed to use the last of my GW primer on Mad Bob (who is represented by the shouty LE shaman from the army box released a year or so ago with the release of 7th ed O&G) and on the boss from the unit of Skargrim's Boyz, so watch this space folks ;).

Gorbad Ironclaw? Aye, that is a nice model, I may end up buying one at some point when the army has expanded enough to let some runty regular orcs in ;). As it stands, I intend to use the BB minotaur as a base for Skargrim Like what Bane did on his O&G plog, although mine will probably look a bit [Not on the floor please] in comparison, it should give my warboss a bit of height over the other boyz (thank Mork i'm not using these tiny fellows eh? ;).)

Sadly, i'm currently having to do a lot of revision for a big maths exam on wednesay, so you probably won't see anything painted untill after :(. However you will see well photographed, okayish painted models from me by the end of the month, I guarantee it :).

DaCone2 - January 7, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)
By the end of the month??? :(

Dracomancer - January 7, 2008 06:17 PM (GMT)
Don't worry, you'll be seeing plenty of crappy WIP pics in the meanwhile ;).
