Title: Recalcitrant Daze
Description: A journey without end or direction.
Rictus - September 26, 2007 11:12 PM (GMT)
Do you know me? Either way i'm not doing an intro. If you know me you don't need to be told again and if you don't you soon will.
I have a rather long to do list...
Almost 7k of DA to be built and painted.
Around 2k of DKoK Infantry to be built and painted
Another 3k of DKoK tanks ditto,
About 3k of LatD/Milita infantry to convert & paint
And about the same amount of LatD/Militia tanks.
Plus lots of other jobs and projects.
To begin with though I need to finish off something I started a while back. Before I did the Nurgle Land Raider...

That's the one, I did a Nurgle Predator. I have decided to redo some of it before finishing the paint job as next to the LR it pales by comparison.
Current state of the Predator:

First job will be to add more GS, then re undercoat those areas before the paint job which will incorporate more green. After that it'll be Mig time again.
That'll do for the first post.
Deadley Hedley - September 26, 2007 11:15 PM (GMT)
Nice list of minis mate ,Looking forward to seeing them all built and primed :P
thewizardofoz - September 27, 2007 01:52 AM (GMT)
your list of stuff to do is, IIRC, longer than Deadley's!
i love your LR, i'll say again, because it is just that great. i like your predator too, but if you deem it nescessary to change, than so be it.
schoolcormorant - September 27, 2007 06:59 AM (GMT)
Yay!
Rictus starts a painting log, then the barman says....we don't serve pasties?...

No way! How did you get a hold of that!? And how could you afford it in the first place... can't help to wonder, what do you do for a living? One might have to get involved in that field to finance ones own DKoK army...
Anyway, this is sure to be good, I'll keep an eye on this log (maybe two if things get REALLY good ;) )
Oh and you forgot one thing on that there list of yours... what happened to the Death Strike Missile Launcher thingie?

What the Krieg? You know I have Krieg. It has been mentioned in conversation on a number of occasions.
The Deathstrike (WME) will be next years GD entry so it's progress will stay in the Dad's Army thread.
Predator, did some GS earlier. Upping the flesh so it looks more inline with the Land Raider.

As with the Raider I am going to have one side more pronounced daemonic ('fleshy').
For those of you who are interested I have a test subject currently in the Nurgleification Gunk for a tutorial. Ove the next week I will be putting something together for it in the Modeling Techniques area so keep an eye out for it.
Slipstream - September 27, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
Grandfather Nurgle is so very, very proud of you, Rictus.
But, I must ask...
Do you wake up in the morning with Green Stuff/Nurgle's Rot crawling up your hands? :)

Yes I did know you had DKoK but not 1066.66£ worth of infantry!!!! (since 2000 points is, roughly, 33 squads. Since one squad without upgrades is 60 points, 2000 divided by 60 = 33.33333. The cost of one squad is 32 £ so 33.3333 times 32 = 1066.66 £. I do realise that it wouldn't be fully this much worth of troops since hvy and special weapons will add some points... but still) and then adding the 3k of tanks we're talking half the amount of money that Denmark produces in a year!
Nice Rhino by the way.

You have far too much time on your hands.
I haven't got all the infantry yet though, the 2k will be the finished amount. By the time I get to the Krieg though (after DA and Militia) I will have the remaining items, I am expecting to have a number of boxes to arrive in the Xmas free shipping period...
Thanks for everyones comments, more will get done on the Pred later today.
hiveminion - September 29, 2007 11:10 AM (GMT)
Yet more amazing green stuffing Rictus! I'm looking forward to seeing this Predator as nurglified and heavily converted as the Land Raider. B)

Rictus that GS'ing is awesome, how do you do it, just drag the GS with a sculpting tool?
ALso how do you do the pustules, because I noticed on your LR that you seem to shape them around a black ring of some sort, what is that?
Cheers
Deadley Hedley - September 29, 2007 09:08 PM (GMT)
The GS on the pred is sweet mate ,It will look sweet next to the LR once you have finished it :)

Soon, all shall become clear...
I have started putting together a tutorial that will cover the texturing of the model, the GS and pustules. The begining of it has gone up in the Modeling Techniques forum. But for know I will say that the GS is pretty much just dragged and pushed into shape and the putules actually begin life as styrene rod.
Latest pics. GS pretty much done now on the hull and also added a second set of pustules. May add more GS on the turret and I have the sponson weapons to look at again as well.

What do you all think?
Deadley Hedley - September 29, 2007 09:56 PM (GMT)
Its looking spot on mate :) ,You going to paint it the same as the LR ?
Crackajam - September 29, 2007 09:59 PM (GMT)
looks very nice and nurgly great job there so far, GSing also blends in quite well can't wait to see it finished! :)
Best regards
Crackajam.
charlie_c67 - September 29, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
Perhaps its just me, but the turret looks a lil like an amorphous green blob. Hopefully other pics will prove me wrong!
thewizardofoz - September 30, 2007 12:02 AM (GMT)
its almost unfair how good you are with GS. i really can't wait for this to be finished with all the bells and whistles.
Rictus - October 1, 2007 09:13 PM (GMT)
Pred has now been undercoated...

MutantMaggot - October 3, 2007 06:50 PM (GMT)
Amazing tanks Rictus. You've nearly inspired me to get some vehicles for my CSM ... nearly ...
I can't wait for more,
MM
Rictus - October 6, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
Digits, funnily enough, no.
I have started repainting the Pred but not enough done worth a picture yet - hopefully over the next couple of days pictures should start appearing of it.
For some time I have been telling people that I was now going to dedicate myself to putting together my DA army (almost 7k), so tomorrow I am going to start on my Militia/LatD army.
Basically I need to do some converting etc and the Miltia army gives me much more scope than the Marines.
So to start off i will need to organise squads etc and then get to finishing the convertions on the tanks as well as replace the cadian based traitors with the FW militia bodies.
One of the early jobs will be turning my current 'plain' traitor vehicles to match the Bassie & Stormsword that came over from my IW army that I sold recently:
From this:

To this:

So skulls, chains & spikes down one side.
Also thinking of making a contingent of the army Nurgle followers so a few tanks may get some Nurgley effect.
More to come over the weekend hopefully.
Konrad - October 6, 2007 08:11 AM (GMT)
That Chaos Baneblade is the AWESOME yo. I like the word Awesome.
jasevx - October 6, 2007 08:31 AM (GMT)
I need to know how you did the demolisher cannon, need another two!
Dominus Ex Machina - October 6, 2007 08:41 AM (GMT)
Is that... is that the GW plastic baneblade with the new Forge World conversion kit, or is it all FW? Either way it looks GREAT! And so does the rest of the stuff you posted. Great looking dozer blade on the super heavy.
Where do you get all your (lovely) little skulls from!? Like the ones lying around on the front of the super heavy (shadowsword, is that what it's called?).
Rictus - October 6, 2007 11:34 AM (GMT)
Konrad & Dominus: The big tank is the FW Stormsword. The Super Heavy Seige Tank.
Not very good early WIP picture:

Most of the skulls have been taken off the chaos vehicle sprues. Cut off and cleaned up. I then bought some resin 28mm skulls off ebay.

I am in serious need of getting hold of some more spikes and skulls as I will have a lot more tanks to do up like this.
jase, sure we have had this conversation before...the demolisher cannon is made from the end caps of Berrol pens (the thick, chunky felt tip pens).

One was cut down at the red arrow and the end part was glued to another end cap to get the length required.
EDIT:
Took some pictures of how things stand with the Militia/Lost and the Damned army.
The Infantry:

The are a mixture of my old LatD army and some refugees from my old Cadian army. Also lots of spare parts in my bitz boxes. These will eventually take up positions as infantry, command squads, heavy weapon squads etc.
The current FW Militia bits to use on them:

I am going to need at least another four or five milita conversion packs. I am hoping by the time I need the new bodies FW will have released a second set.
Next up the Tread element:

We have:
1 - Demolisher
2 - Exterminator
3 & 4 - Leman Russes
5 - Hellhound
6 - Chimeras
7 - 'Heavy' Sentinels with armoured crew comp
8 - 'Light' Sentinels without...
9 - Griffon
10 - Artillery
11 - Stormsword
Now I have more tanks on order so the Armoured section is going to increase into a full Armoured Company. Plans include more converstions (such as at leat one Vanq). The Artillery is going to change, the broken up Earthshaker is my Scrapheap Challenge and will become a static gun platform (with Militia crew), that will be the template to turn the second (and a third not shown) Bassie into more platforms. The hull of this Bassie will be turned into a Chimera.
The idea is to be eventually able to field a 2500pt Infantry (with tank support) army or a 2500pt Armoured Company (with at least 3 Armoured Fist squads) or combine everything into something like a 5000 point army (including the Stormsword and Artillery) for Apocalypse.
I also have some units left over from the LatD army that are not covered by the FW Militia list:

These are:
1 - Rough Riders
2 - Big Mutants
3 - Fallen Inquisitor & Retinue
4 - Chaos Hounds
5 - Two full 30 Mutant Units.
Also got 10 Chaos Spawns on order...
These may get used in Apoc battles where everything can be taken or they may get a look in when the Militia list gets expanded in the next IA book.
Deadley Hedley - October 8, 2007 10:45 PM (GMT)
That Stormsword rocks mate :) any idea on a colour scheme the these guys ?
