Title: Where the f@*k has that gone?!
Penguin of Death - December 28, 2007 04:08 PM (GMT)
By the very fact that we are making models from small bits we often lose bits, usually something unique when you really need it.
I'm sure it's not just me that this happens to, but what really bugs me is that larger things - how have I lost a MKI Razorback, and more importantly where is my Chaos black spray?
jasevx - December 28, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
someone in the house making a profit on ebay?
charlie_c67 - December 28, 2007 04:47 PM (GMT)
Sounds like me losing half a devastator squad and some RT rough riders...
Merceus - December 28, 2007 06:21 PM (GMT)
Check your case ;) Spent a week getting stressed and not being able to find my spray before I remembered it was in there
Gungnir - December 28, 2007 06:23 PM (GMT)
I have to maintain a good work environment, my carpet eats bitz. many a time I've dropped something small.. never for it to be seen again. <_<
Arhalien - December 28, 2007 07:24 PM (GMT)
I've 'lost' several swordmasters in the past when they've got stuck into the foam tray above by their swords :D
Merceus - December 28, 2007 07:37 PM (GMT)
lol, our local GW was refurbished a few months ago... unfortunately some [foolish person] decided that a nice colour for the carpet would be GREY!!!
Easy E - December 28, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
Personally, I know my bitz pretty well. What kills me is when I sculpt a new piece or have a small bit that I need for that extra detail and then when I'm moving into glue it, I drop it onto the floor; where it is never found again against my grey carpet.
KKKHHHAAAANNNNN!
Slipstream - December 28, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
I have a bitz-eating desk. It'll swallow up random bitz, and the regurgitate them, later. I blame it on being an old roll-top victorian. It's cranky.
--Brian
I've done far worse than kill you. I've hurt you by making bitz disappear into your grey carpet. And I wish to go on...hurting you.
jasevx - December 28, 2007 11:07 PM (GMT)
I have two plastic eating dogs under my desk, nothing actually hit the floor...
Digits - December 28, 2007 11:32 PM (GMT)
Yup, I had a metal commisar that fell to the floor. Found his arm, but he's gone to join the Emperor!!!!
Lord Commander Eidolon - December 28, 2007 11:45 PM (GMT)
i can already see how this thread is going to pan out!
anyway, ive some how managed to lose one of my manticore missiles,
its not even small, oh ive also managed to lose my dignity, but thats mostly stephens fault ;)
bringerofdecay - December 28, 2007 11:46 PM (GMT)
i now do conversions on the floor to avoid dropages :)
there is still the odd pesky bit that flies accross the room only to disapear meaning i have to cut a new bit...grrr those are the worst
Merceus - December 29, 2007 12:13 AM (GMT)
lol, now Im just thinking about those times when you clip some large chunk of metal and you dont see it, but rather hear it ping off of the ceiling/wall a few times before vanishing...
Though I did find one of those once, twice actually... the first time it hit me in the hand which had clipped it off!! The second time it landed in my step-dads tea
MutantMaggot - December 29, 2007 08:03 AM (GMT)
I"ve lost lots of stuff ... just too small to be of note, and I've usually improvised, whether with my sculpting skills (wizards) or just another part.
~And as for the chunks of metal ... my room's often covered in them, but somehow they're all gone the next day ... stupid vacuum cleaner! All my lost pieces of warhammer get attacked by a hoover!
Easy E - December 29, 2007 10:06 AM (GMT)
Perhaps I am stupid to say this but, when I am clipping, I tend to put the item I am clipping inside a box (or if it is small, cup it with my hand) so when it inevitably flies apart, the pieces bounce of the sides of the box and end up at the bottom. That way, I don't loose things due to clipping.
Firestorm Falcon - December 29, 2007 10:15 AM (GMT)
Not allowed easy E, that's showing some common sense :)
I don't lose that much but I have a habit of leaving things in games workshop, a dark reaper, ranger squad (they were still in the same place the next day, no-one had noticed them(camoelioline really does work)) A FALCON! oh and my case once :(.
Still I got them all back.
Penguin of Death - December 29, 2007 10:33 AM (GMT)
That reminds me, I can add the bodyshell of a falcon to the list of missing stuff. Still can't find the black so made do with Grey.
I think gravity affects bits differently to everything else. As mentioned any clipped bit will bounce all over the place, but even a small, light, plastic bit has amazing powers. If you do eventually find it it wil have travelled the whole length of the room without any difficulty - maybe we can harness this in some way?
Merceus - December 29, 2007 11:08 AM (GMT)
To create a partical accelerator that won't create a black hole under Sweden!! GENIUS!!!
and putting my finger over stuff I clip to stop it flying usually just results in Pain, swearing and dropping of said bit...
Gungnir - December 30, 2007 12:32 PM (GMT)
my method of cutting bitz is to put them in a chunk of blu-tack.. that way the pieces both sides of my craft knife are firmly anchored from flying about my room and it helps hold the bitz for more accurate cutting.
Merceus - December 30, 2007 12:52 PM (GMT)
Or they still go flying across the room and you cant get them cos they're stuck in a really high up place due to the blu-tac :P
Penguin of Death - January 11, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
Found the Chaos Black!
Obviously if you spraypaint in the garage and leave the paint out it'll get tidied - left on the stairs, left on my bed, handed to me as I walk in from work - well usually. This time it went into the decorating cupboard in the garage itself, maybe my parents are heading gothwards and want to do the house in matt black, well until they see the price
Merceus - January 11, 2008 11:18 PM (GMT)
*tries to imagine how much spray is needed to do an entire house*
*doesn't care as he'll never have that much money*
damn bits :P
Mordian Marauder - January 11, 2008 11:40 PM (GMT)
I'm building a Tamiya 1/35 scale WW1 tank at the moment for my guard. Now, as it's purely for guard it doesn't matter so much if I lose various parts. However, when little bits that make up the tank tracks and wheels etc go missing....I get mad :D
I also hate it when my folks need some glue and they treat my shed like a storehouse. Go in, take, and don't return. AAHH!
Fortier - January 13, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
I lost a bunch of terrain I had made/bought years ago and had assumed my parents had thrown it out. Then just this year my father found a box full of the missing terrain in his closet. Still not sure how it got in there.
Pfreck - January 14, 2008 08:46 AM (GMT)
Yesterday, I was chopping the head off a Militia torso for a conversion of my 2nd HB team. Although, I needed the pin the head into another position. So I grabbed some paperclips and cut a piece off, although because of the pressure the head of the Militia torso flew away! :o
I'm still looking for it.. If I can't find it, I'll have to sculpt a new head.. :|
Angel Robertson - January 14, 2008 05:33 PM (GMT)
I lost an entire dwarf army! I will let you work that one out!

Penguin of Death - January 14, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
Well they are quite short.
Angel Robertson - January 14, 2008 10:38 PM (GMT)
For some reason that has just cracked me up!!!

Penguin of Death - January 15, 2008 09:22 AM (GMT)
:D
Managed to knock half a dozen Grey Hunters into the bin last night, picked them all out easily enough and then realised I wals missing a front torso that was part converted and had been sitting next to them. Rooted round in it for a bit before I decided I'd have to empty the bin. I took each bit of rubbish out and care fully checked it - Nothing, no trace. I went to put everything back and discovered that the torso had glued itself to the inside of the bin due to a bit of blutack on it!
Digits - January 19, 2008 05:51 PM (GMT)
Damn! lost thelittle visor cover off the front hatch on the baneblade! Can anyone confirm which sprue it was on for me please?
Sotek - January 20, 2008 12:18 AM (GMT)
i lost my only super glue last night. after about an hour of searching the house i found it under my stack of WD and old codices.
Digits - January 20, 2008 02:39 PM (GMT)
Ha! My william just found it after he stood on it in bare feet! What a star!
Angel Robertson - January 20, 2008 05:15 PM (GMT)
And probably in pain now!

freebooter - January 25, 2008 11:02 AM (GMT)
I've somehow managed to lose an entire 3000 pt Catachan Deathworld force...
I had it 2 years back when I stopped playing with it.
I went to grab it when Apocalypse was coming and realised I couldn't find it, anywhere...
Digits - January 25, 2008 11:08 AM (GMT)
Now THAT's careless! lol
Hope you find it...
dave38x - January 27, 2008 12:21 AM (GMT)
my outstanding record goes as follows. having airbrushed a 1-35 challenger II i proceed to take the weels off to put the track back on. the weels go onto the track, the track goes onto the tank. the drive wheel drops to my desk. i reach for it. knock if off the desk. 4 hours later, a thorough search of the room, including spiderwebs that have been growing for 3 years behind a sheet of foamboard revealed nothing. absolutely nothing. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Penguin of Death - April 28, 2008 08:34 AM (GMT)
Undercoated a couple of Special weapons guys for my Cadians and left them on top of the TV in my room so that I remembered where hey are to try out some colour schemes.
This morning I walked too close to the TV and heard a 'clunk', looked round and there's only 1 guy.
Arse.
Only had 5 minutes to look this morning and ther's no sign - though on the plus side I found my grey primer in the process
dean - April 28, 2008 03:32 PM (GMT)
Well a random clean of the dining room last week found the Termie power fist arm that I am sure that the cat decided to play with and had been missing for at least 6 months.
Gundrek - April 28, 2008 04:00 PM (GMT)
Buyied a couple of cadian leutnants about 6 months ago ...
could only find one for about 5 months ... for sure the only that was interesting me was the one that was missin' (of course ^^)
Finally found him 1 month ago, hunting dust and spiderwebs under the trashcan outside my flat ... waht the hell was he doin' here ????
DESERTER !!!!!
(that poor leutnant has been affected to a penal legion :P)
