Title: Need IG soldier ideas
Dino - December 23, 2007 12:55 AM (GMT)
I'm having a little problem finding Vostroyan stuff in my area of the world and also I have some new ideas how I want my IG to be rules wise I'm trying to come up with some new and different looking IG soldire ideas. Any suggestions.

Wait? So just anything? Or something specifically Vossie?
Its quite hard because obviously the majority of human models that suit such purposes are either metal (unconvertable and few poses), Fantasy, or already Guard...
You could try Fire Warrior, Kroot, Eldar or Dark Eldar bits, though they may just look too much like what they were to be of any use, or you could go for FW and mix in some other stuff...
Fantasy models are good, though again limited in the guns departement, not to mention somewhat cliched and oft used...
I would suggest either Cadians with Catachan heads and arms, or Eldar Guardians (or Tau Fire Warriors) with Cadian heads and arms...

Yeah a little clarification is needed here. are you looking for variations on a vossie theme? or are you looking to create something with plastic that is not 'modern' IG? IE something napoleonic? if that is the case someone is doing napoleonic era Highlander (IG in kilts with bearskins using empire muskets lased up)
One you might consider and I must admit I've thought about this myself would be american civil war IG I've not seen it done so could be quite unique.

Not Vossie. But at the same time kind of Vossie. Does thst make sense old guard?
An idea was to take cadian plastics and knights of the white wolf head(and any other heads with beards) and GS the big fury hats, but now I'm not so shure.

It all depends on your GS skills, best thing is to flick through the men-at-arms books and see what takes your fancy.

hmmm, I suppose GSing their hats isn't too hard a trick... you could always get a spare head and give it a try to see how it comes out...

Well thats interesting old guard.
The idea for the hats is simple and I've tried it a few times before on some dwarfs(was tring to get a kislev themed dogs of war army with kislev allies).
But it's not the hats that are the problem it's what the uniforms are gonna look like. I'll do some sketches and see what I come up with.
