Title: Walking With Skeletons
Gungnir - December 21, 2007 07:24 PM (GMT)
Don't know how many of you have checked out the latest white dwarf, but they've got a preview of the New Vampire count models, including a new box set of Skeletons.
Now, I'm a big fan of the necrotic arts.. but the old skeleton models weren't really up to par and put me off ever starting an army, but these new ones are excellent. Much more akin to the imagary in Liber Necris.
so, anyone got any plans for these new constructs? I've got a few ideas that would warrant buying a box set. I'm quite curious if Digits is going to employ these new ones in his skeleton IG. anyone else out there with original uses?
I'll see if I can get a picture soon enough for those who haven't seen the new models.
Digits - December 21, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
I have to admit, in armour with a good mix of shield types / helmets / weaponry they do look quite cool. However, for me personally, they are not so flexible for conversion so no, I won't be using them. It is'nt the skeleton it'self that's the problem with the old set (in fact I think it's better) but the lack of "clutter".
Satan Dingo 420 - December 21, 2007 09:16 PM (GMT)
The new one look great, but they aren't nearly as useful in a converting capacity. Better stock up before the current ones are sold out.
Is there a place that sells just skulls in that scale?
Asmodai Dark - December 21, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
If I remember rightly the armoured ones are actually much more fragile then there older counterparts - I mean i held it at games day and Ihave to say I thought it was going to fall to bits in my hands.
I dunno, if anyones seen the new krieg shotgun peeps then I reckon some cool undead krieg could be in the works somewhere.
Taarnak - December 21, 2007 11:19 PM (GMT)
Hate the out of proportion (more so than usual) skulls on the current stuff. Looking forward to the new stuff, I think.
I will know for sure when I get to see pictures of the sprues. If they are still sufficiently multi-part, they will get my money. If not, then I will stock up on the current one and sculpt/cast new skulls. Hell, I may just do that anyway...
~Eric
PS
Any pictures of the sprues in there? Or does anyone know of any on the net yet?

Merceus - December 22, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
hmm, not too sure if I like the new ghoulds or not, far too hunchy, kinda remind me of Orcs... dont really like, not that im collecting VC anyway :P
MutantMaggot - December 22, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
I think the orciness is due to the green skin ...
Gungnir - December 22, 2007 06:16 PM (GMT)
I've not seen the new ghouls.. got any pictures of them you can link to?
MutantMaggot - December 22, 2007 06:35 PM (GMT)

The US GW site has posted up painted pictures of the Blood Knights, for those who didn't know, here they are:

Whilst i'm not entirely sold on the riders, the mounts seem decent enough, and if the rumours are true and they are plastic, will finally give chaos players some decent steeds to use^^.
Lord Commander Eidolon - December 23, 2007 04:16 AM (GMT)
the horses look a tad skinny IMHO, i like the riders and if my local GW manager is to be believed, that is a unit of vampire thralls
Merceus - December 23, 2007 10:44 AM (GMT)
Bear in mind this is just a compilation of all the rumours I've heard on the Blood Knights;
- They are all Metal Models (including Mounts)
- They are all the size of Archaon
- They have the stats of current Thralls (who are not in the new book)
- They are etehreal when out of combat (though this seems more popular towards black knight rumours now)
-They are Rare choices of unit size 3(or 4)+

Also thought I'd take the liberty of taking the pics from MMs link and putting them here for ease of finding...

*waits a few hours for thread to load*
*coughs* :P
No, nice idea: thanks. These are all awesome models.
Merceus - December 24, 2007 11:14 AM (GMT)
lol, what kind of bizarre connection do you have? loads in a split-second for me...
MutantMaggot - December 24, 2007 12:47 PM (GMT)
It didn't take that long ...
I exaggerated. I have broadband, but due to my position in a village is quite slow compared to most peoples'.
Lt.Gregor - December 28, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
Those look amazing, do you suppose the grave guard are plastic?
I really want to know what the plague cart does, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside  , this is my favorite fantasy army.
Lord Commander Eidolon - December 28, 2007 04:35 PM (GMT)
Lt.Gregor - December 28, 2007 04:48 PM (GMT)
Yeah! The army's getting bigger soon.
Merceus - December 28, 2007 08:17 PM (GMT)
plague cart moves at the speed of zombies and has some kind of magical attack of rotten mouldy disease ridden death as well as impact hits... or at least thats what thr rumours say... :P
