Is anime sexist? Do most animes portray women in a flattering or unflattering light?

I think it depends on the anime. The only thing thats repeated through most if not all anime is that girls have skimpy little things while the guys are fully clothed head to toe. Not sayin' that goes for everything but watch the Sailor Moon R movie. Some I've stopped watching 10 minutes into the 2nd episode and ereased from my mind they were so de-feminist, but, thankfully, thats not all anime and I think it'd be kinda unfair to say so.

I think that most of the anime I have seen portrays them positively. Just look at Sango from Inuyasha and Marlene Angel from blue gender, both of whom are kick @$$ exterminators that are the best of their respective organizations (and also both of them were voice roles played by Houko Kuwashima). But on a side note about one of the choices, there are TWO names that are of great significance there. Sango of course and Ryoko. Ryoko is the name of my girlfriend and she is basically the real life Sango.

It definately depends on the anime becuase DBZ,DBGT don't have girl supersayans(which ultimately sux for Pan), but Ryoko is pretty tough an so is Kikyou(evil b*&^ monster of death). like i said it all depends on the anime.

You forgot to mention Sango as one of the girls that wupp butt in your post above this one. However I'll take your mentioning of the name Ryoko as an indirect referance to her because my GF ,who is named Ryoko, is just like Sango (and IS Sango in real life like I AM Miroku).
