Title: The Bar code... useful or not
Description: DESIGN OF COMPUTER IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM

Abstract - July 17, 2005 11:03 AM (GMT)
BAR CODE OR ANY ENCODING MECHANISM FOR IDENTIFICATION... I BELIEVE TUP-V CAN DO MORE, WITH THE COMPETITION WITH OTHER SCHOOLS. THE DEMAND OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY HAVE CREATED MORE JOBS THAN OF ENGINEERING JOBS.

RESULTS REVEALED THAT TUP-V GAINED ABRUPT CHANGES, FIRST, IT STARTED TO THE EMPLOYEES THEN I HOPE STUDENTS WILL BE BENEFITED ALSO. WITH THEIR INCREASE IN FEES, I BELIEVE THEY CAN DO MORE AND BE MORE COMPETITIVE TODAY WITH THE ADVENT OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES. NOSEBLEED...

"TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN, MUCH IS REQUIRED."

IMO, TUP is not yet in a financial situation to have this type of ID system. Kag isa pa la man ga time in kag time out ang studyante...so it will be an ambitiuos project...pero ok man na na suggestion...

Hello Abstract, How you doin there? Hope you are enjoyin your stay here.

Now to the topic....

About the bar code system, it is a very welcome suggestion!:thumb:

Instead of gun, how about the outlet type? which is more reliable and durable compared with the gun type.... B)

In classifying books, magazines, etc...., we can use the bar coding system for accounting and management.....

You know there are so many benefits of this bar coding system....

Only the cons for the people in Pinas especially in TUP-Visayas, is we lack the funding to implement this technology... :(

ari gli ang picture sg 3rd generation bar code system nga ginagamit na subong sa Japan.

Bro Abstract, The only constant in this world is "Change". Bar Coding is now the trend for product idenfication, traceability and security. If you believe that this project can help you as well as the others then why not push it through? . . . from my point of view, it will cost some money but not much. My suggestion is make a Feasibility study. present it to the administator and solicit some approval and find some sponsors for financial assistance. . .

worthy worthy worthy

FYI lang gali, i'm already 4th year and wala gin change ang id namon biskan nag graduate na kami 3rd year. gin carry man gani ang ID no. namon biskan BSECE na kami, it still says 2005ECET1A18, i don't like it but we couldn't do anything.

the ID does have a barcode but after two years of implementation it has not been used for any school transaction. i even thought the all the barcodes looked alike coz even at a close look it does, but after a thorough inspection, may difference gali. the barcode system has been studied by "LINK" for implementation sang last year pa. as a club, project na tani nila. i think it wouldn't cost much to buy barcode readers but to build one i think is is a question. to build the database for the implementation wouldn't also be a problem kay kaya na sang mga studyante i project.... damo da bala sagad, day philip trio galing 5th year na ang iban i don't know lang...

i'd just like to say... ok gid na, kulang lang effort from the admin and student, kung ma implement na tani points pa na sa accreditation, di ba?

its a great idea, more tup-vians will benefit from it.. but it will be costly and mybe ma avail na sng skul if obsolete na ang bar coding.. hehe.. it should have a feasibility study first and its program is not a joke it requires high security coz it involves personal data.. u know nman pinoy ngita gd paagi nga ma lusot ang security.. as far as i have observe from other universities and schools in bacolod they have also that bar code tag but they dont really use it, they use it as a display that the skul is high tech..knu.. have a great day..folks

In my personal opinion mas mayo man guid nga mag upod ka sa trend kay mabehind ka sa iban kay gusto ta man kag sa indi maabot guid ang time nga ma adapt guid ta sa new technology kay maapektohan aton nga mga transactions with other groups (business man na or ano, within the phils. or outside) nga nagagamit na sg new technology pareho na sang bar codes.

But don't you know nga ang barcodes, electonic IDs, atm, credit card, and heard of "National ID System, are leading to what the Bible is telling "THE MARK OF THE BEAST" the mark that contain the no. "666"? That's why in revelation it says that "you can not buy or sell without the mark of the beast. Kay, unknowingly, the authorities want to have a cashless society to eliminate crimes? So they want us to use atm cards & credit cards to do our transactions so di ta mag daladala daku nga kuarta which is init sa mga kriminals. But the problem is and IDs & cards puede madula or makawat kag magamit sang iban ang imo account for their personal use. So according sa mga expert sini to eliminate this hambal nila ang atong ID, SSS, bank account, credit cards acct., etc. isahon na lang ang i implant sa tawo thru microchip and they said ang pinaka ideal part nga puede ibutangan amo ang forehead and fore hand which is what is written in Revelation 13:16-18 BibleGateway
And karon nakahimo na sila micro chip nga maka store sang tanan nga data needed and ang power ya will be halin sa aton body temp. kag ang life sang microchip is estimated 120yrs. Surely for lifetime na guid na siya.

It should be that TUPv is on the lead in terms of these techs. We are a technology based institution. A good old bar code reader will serve the purpose. Its common every where. It can be done by ourselves. In terms of data security, the network people can work this out. Madamo sang alumni naton nga knowledgeable. They are just waiting to be tapped. Its just a matter of commitment and drive to push thru with a certain good project. The primary task is to encode all the data that could be linked to the barcode system. If this will be given to an outsider it will cost much. Why not build the system within. Tap the manpower within the institution.

Teh, ano na ni ang update sa inyong Barcode na project?

jerber - May 17, 2006 05:01 PM (GMT)
this is a very long term goal sang TUP. as the latest batch of students that are graduating sa TUP, this project has not yet been pushed through. and as a Computer Tech na student, i think i had the responsibility to push this goal to reality. heres what i and my classmates did:

1. I developed the Internet Laboratory Manager for the purpose to have the internet laboratory automated and control the flow of people in and out of the laboratory. i had used visual basic. sir bonache who is the director now, even saw my project. it used the barcode system and we have utilized its usefulness at last. hehehe.
what was lacking?: the support and timeframe i got was way too short for the project. even though the project was fully functional, timing gid nga graduate na ko kag wala sang nakabalo pano kay wala ko nakaobra manual. HEHEHEHE!

2. the other group of computer tech students came up with the idea to utilize barcode for the security sang iban nga kwarto in which students are not allowed to enter without the trainor. so they came up with utilizing electronics to make the locking device sa mga doors and the software used. IT WORKED! another barcode-utilizing project done!
what was lacking?: it must be integrated with electro-pneumatics sana but we didnt have the knowledge sa pneumatics that time. and this is another project that did not come to reality kay wala na implement. pwede na tani.

what i am about to say is that, sana and TUP-V maghimo isa ka workshop kung diin may ara mga representatives in every department.

YOU KNOW? kompleto and TUP-V sa technology nga makahimo sang damo nga innovations. Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, Computer, etc. pwede na ta kahimo aton mga makina siguro. like sa SEMICON PRODUCTION MACHINES! HAHAHA!

and back sa aton topic. until now, the barcode system has not yet been a reality sa mga taga TUP-V. hopefully, the students may have the initiative to make another new innovation para sa barcode.

BY THE WAY, THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS... AND SUGGESTIONS... TUP-VISAYAS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO INNOVATE THEIR TECHNOLOGY... IT STARTED FOR ITS REGULAR EMPLOYEES. I HOPE FOR THE STUDENTS ALSO, THEY HAVE BEEN PAYING LARGE AMOUNT OF FEES THESE DAYS... :thumb:
