Robert Kiyosaki is an investor, businessman and best-selling author. His book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, reveals what the rich teach their kids about money that the poor and middle class do not. "The main reason people struggle financially is because they spent years in school but learned nothing about money. The result is people learn to work for money... but never learn how to have money work for them," says Robert.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Robert is fourth-generation Japanese-American. He comes from a prominent family of educators. His father was the head of education for the State of Hawaii. After high school, Robert was educated in New York. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and went to Vietnam as an officer and a helicopter gunship pilot.

Returning from war, Robert went to work for the Xerox Corporation and in 1977 started a company that brought to market the first nylon and Velcro "surfer" wallets, which grew into a mega-million dollar worldwide product.

Although Robert's involvement is in real estate, and in trading and building businesses, his true passion is teaching. He is a highly acclaimed speaker on financial education and his work has inspired audiences worldwide. Robert has appeared on Oprah and other top national TV and radio shows.

Robert has a profound message for those wanting to improve their financial lives. That message is: "With every dollar in your hand, you have the power to choose to be rich, poor or middle class."

Mig,

Not to burst some bubbles...

But Robert Kiyosaki is not Rich as he claims to be...

His main point of argument to be come rich is thru real estate investment in which somebody needs a huge initial investment... its not just selling comic books...

And most importantly is that he don't advocates college education stating that having a good education and a good career contributes of being you stuck in a rat race....

i've read it also... and the way i understand it, is for us people to think before we spend our hard earn money into something... would that be an asset or just a liability?... by understanding the worth of a thing we can be able to save or spend our money to a more useful and at the same time could provide money in return rather than spending into something and would make us spend more for its maintenance or alike... what he really wants us to know is for us to be wise in our spendings... just my 2 cents.

Actually guys, this book is about common sense. But the book is contrary to the Filipino culture, happy-go-lucky, strike-anywhere type.

1. Masang Filipino thinking is that we earn money so we can spend and be happy. Nothing evil with this but the book calls this "poor man's" mentality.

2. Masang Filipino thinking is that we earn money to get the best education to find a big company to work for. Again, nothing evil with this thought as well but the book calls it "middle class" thinking, which is not much different from being poor.

3. Rich man's thinking is into investing. Kung poor ka, strive to be middle class with stable income. Pag may stable income ka, improve your cash flow para may savings ka. Ang savings ay indi para inugbakal sang mga gamit or partying (poor man uli). Savings must be invested to earn more for you. That is how you stop earning your money but that your money is earning for you. If your money earns more than what you personally earn, then you can stop your own work na, therefore rich man.
