Title: Carbed mustang
FOXROD - July 21, 2008 05:57 PM (GMT)
I carbed a 89 mustang and I'm running a holley blue pump.I have 2 regulaters,1 for the carb and 1 for the nitrous.Does anyone know if I should run a return line.I just had to replace the fuel pump and the setup is less than a year old.Any help would be appreciated

returning it to the tank will let the pump run cooler.how much fuel pressure you running?ive put a oil pump spring in a holley blue on my old turbo setup when i 1st fiddled with it and got 19lbs strong lbs of pressure but ya have to run a return

Thanks for the info.I'm running 7.5 to the carb and 5 to the nitrous selenoid.I'll go ahead and hook up a return line.

i am just curious as to how you hook up a return line?

Most tanks already have a hard line on it .My car had a return line on it,then I carberated it and didn't hook it up and my pump didn't last long before burning itself up.I just went from the side of 1 of my fuel pressure regulaters and hooked a line from it back to the original hard line.

oh so if i had a fuel cell id run a line from the 2nd out put to the fuel regulator as well. so the fuel reg. would have 1 input and 2 outs. 1 going to the carb and 2nd line going back to the cell?

You don't need to use just any regulator you need a bypass regulator that returns the fuel only when your usage pressure is met and when your usage pressure goes down it closes off the bypass to maintain pressure and be sure when you run the return line to the tank from one of these regulators that you use the same size line for the return as the supply line cause a smaller line will creater a pressure increase and you won't be able to adjust the pressure below a certain point at the regulator.

who makes this regulator. i have the holley addition. apparently its not going to do the trick?

Any regulator listed as bypass should work. And some pumps have a built in bypass that runs straight from the pump to the tank for this purpose. The A2000 Aeromotive and BG-400 from Barry Grant have these bypasses
