Scallytopped Hippopotamus Spotting!
Last week, on the shores of Great Britan a local Muggle said she spotted an animal coming out of the water. She described it as a shambling mass of flesh and hair, it stood around 3 feet. It was on all fours and was on fire even though it had just come out of the water. The muggle phoned the Please-Men and Animal Control, and they captured it. As soon as the Ministry of Magic had heard about it, they were all over it. They sent out at least 10 Magical Animal Control Ministry Members (MACMMs) to find and take the Scallytopped Hippopotamus from the muggles before it hurt someone. Many memory charms were performed, but no muggles got hurt.
The MACMMs mass-apparated themselves and the Scallytopped Hippopotamus to the Magical Animal Control section in the Ministry of Magic building, where it proceeded to destroy the lab and injure two wizards. Thomas Francine and Lynn Addams were the wizards who suffered 3rd degree burns and much mental trauma.
For those of you who don’t know the capabilities of the Scallytopped Hippopotamus read on! The Scallytopped Hippopotamus, though rare, is one of the most dangerous magicl creatures to wizard-kind, but most harmless to muggles. They cannot harm muggles because the way they attack. They target the magical blood in a wizard (so it can affect both half-blood and pure blood alike) and causes it to cease movement for short amounts of time, which makes it hard to function. It then proceeds to screech, which causes brain damage, possibly erasing some parts of your memory, and tries to eat you. It’s main physically harming feature is its enormous jaw. It can crush a tree, 20 feet of height, with a diameter of 2 feet, to powder within minutes. For some reason it cannot attack muggles with this feature.
Be on the look-out for Scallytopped Hippopotamuses in the Great Britan area!! They are mostly aquatic animals, who come up only for a treat… wizards. Stay away from the water if you are of magical blood or are unable to defend yourself. The best way to attack a Scallytopped Hippopotamus is with the Jelly – Leg curse, or a simple tripping curse, because it’s legs are it’s weakest assest.
Scallytopped Hippopotamuses are about 3.2 feet (one meter) high off the ground and they walk on all fours. They are covered in brown-grey hair, which shoots sparks occasionally from the ends. It has grey-green skin and a huge jaw. Its eyes are on the side of its head and are the size of Bludgers. There are two ways commonly known to reverse the effects of its screech and blood-clot. Cast on yourself the levitate charm Wingardium Leviosa (covered in Simple Charms for the Charming by Charles Littleton) this charm reduces the effects of the memory loss and blood clot. The only way to completely reverse the effects is to go to St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and ask for Healer Hobbinson. He was the famous healer who cured the effects of Hillary and Mark Greystone, the wizard couple who forgot about wizarding for three years of their lives, and thought they were muggles (this story covered in History of St. Mungos, a Decade of Pain [Relife] by Healer [and creator of St. Mungos] Henery Jefferson).
If you spot one of these creatures please owl the MACMMs and stay away from the beast!
