Title: Jazz and Her broken paw!
Description: Advice please

rachel477 - April 29, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone,

Jazz has snapped a bone in her paw, and has been bandaged up to her hip by the vet. Unfortunately when she is left alone for more than two minutes she is chewing holes in it.

Any advice on how I can stop her chewing, before I have to resort to a buster collar or muzzle? :(

Aww poor Jazz i hope shes feeling better really soon .

:o I cannot imagine a Pyr with a buster collar on , my dobe caused enough damage with his , i do know they make a sort of neck brace which stops dogs being able to get to wounds bandages etc which it might be worth asking your vet about ?

I will go and look to see if i can find the name of them , I am not a morning person and the coffee has not kicked in yet so i cant for the life of me think of the name :D :D

Sorry to hear about Jazz's paw! I hope it heals quickly.

I would also try to find a neck brace as buster collars seem a bit tricky on pyreneans.

Jazz is the rotweiller/ bull mastiff cross so the buster collar isnt too big!! I had to put one on Monty (Pyrenean) when he was neutered a couple of weeks ago and he destroyed everything (purposely at times) coz he got fed up with it.

The vet has now put a 'stop chew' bandage on the top now, which has got a nasty taste apparently, and she's got a buster collar for when she is home alone, and at night.

Thanks for your replies :D
