Title: Picture Competition!

LurcherGirl - October 1, 2007 12:02 PM (GMT)
As we have many new members, I think it is about time that the Proud Pyreneans Logo (at the top of the page) gets overhauled with new pictures!

Post as many pictures of your Pyrenean Mountain Dog(s) as you like in this thread. On Sunday, 14th October, I will then set up a poll where everyone can vote for 1 picture. The 5 pictures with the most votes will then be shown in the logo!

So get posting. Show off your PMD pictures!

Rob, I live in Canada, so that's where all the pictures are taken. I only live a couple hours away from the mountains, so Walter goes on tons of hikes!

Tinziliini, I can only see two of the pictures... I'm not sure if it's just my computer or if there's something else wrong. The two I can see are great though!

Tinziliini - October 3, 2007 08:53 AM (GMT)
Oh, Thats weird, because i can see all of them
Can anybody else see all of them??

AvenueQ is your pyr canadian? because i'm very intrested in canadian and american pyrs :D

Just gotta nip out for a bit 1st

Abstrax - October 3, 2007 06:44 PM (GMT)
LOL It took a couple days of grooming. Bath on Thursday with a comb ran through him, then line grooming on friday for about 4 hours lol. Then touch ups for about a half hour each saturday and sunday. I love to groom so if you lived near by I would say yes and groom both of your dogs lol.

rachel477 - October 3, 2007 08:22 PM (GMT)
How do you get him to sit for so long. Monty will sit for a while but as soon as you go near his bum he's off :D :D

Abstrax - October 3, 2007 10:23 PM (GMT)
I groom Tache on a grooming table. He just stands there, actually he is so used to it he doesn't even need the grooming table. I just sit there on the ground and comb him while he stands. He loves being brushed out. :)

Tinziliini, I'm not sure about my pyr's lineage... He's from the Humane Society, so I don't know any of his background.

Abstrax- Wow, Tache looks amazing! Walter loves being groomed, but he never looks that clean.

Abstrax - October 4, 2007 01:05 AM (GMT)
Thank you! :)

Tache gets a bath every 2 weeks. So it's much easier for maintaining his coat.

I think you might be using a site that doesn't support links like this... I think the two that show are petpages links, the others are different websites... If you put them all on petpages, I think it will work.

Yes I think the problem maybe with http://irc-galleria.net/ , I tried to look around it but as its not in English I couldnt understand a word.

Maybe his album isn't made public or something. I said if he sends me the pics as attachments to an email, I'll upload them to my photobucket and post them for him.

Still strange as 2 pics opened yet the rest didn't maybe they've been moved or deleted?

Abstrax

sorry to be so ignorant but what does line grooming mean?

How do you get his fur so straight and fluffy looking?

Abstrax - October 4, 2007 01:26 PM (GMT)
To linebrush, you lift the coat against the grain with
one hand, and literally seperate out a line 1/2 to 1 inch wide, and brush it
out with a medium corse comb until all the loose undercoat and tangles are gone.
Do this line by line until the whole dog is brushed. Then take a comb and run it through to get any undercoat and tangles that were missed.

Tache's furr being so straight has to do with his genetics. A lot of Pyrs are born with wavy coats or straight coats, it depends on the dogs in the pedigree and what traits are commonly found in the lines for that dog. Tache's straight coat seems to come from his Dad's side which is a good chunk of VilleVieux and Limberlost. His mothers side is also Limberlost with Rivergroves and a bit from a couple other kennels.

http://www.freewebs.com/abstrax is my site. It's heavily under construction if you are interested in checking out his pedigree. It's on his page.

Yes I am from America. I live in New York to be precise. Here we call them Great Pyrenees - or as you refer to them the Pyrenean Mountain Dog which is their proper name. I am actually just starting out. I've been learning about Pyrs and showing them for 4 years now through my mentors who do breed Pyrs - They are Nautika Kennels. They are a combination of Limberlost (Canada in Ontario by Toronto.) and Rivergroves (America in Maryland) lines and I adore them. They also have some new lines in their kennel from Impyrial lines.

Lois at Limberlost http://www.cdn-domain.com/limberlost/ doesn't really have a full website anymore last that I checked but you can see Tache resembles her lines the most in my opinion. But you can check out Rivergroves at http://www.rivergroves.com and Impyrial at http://www.impyrial.com .

Abstrax

PS. I think your english is fine. :)

Tinziliini - October 4, 2007 05:44 PM (GMT)
Thank yoy Abstrax!! I absolutely adore Rivergrove Pyrs, not so much Impyrial, but i think the males are much smaller there than here in Finland, based on the pictures on these pages, How big is Tache?

Maybe some day i'll have an Abstrax pyr B)

Maybe my written English is allright, but if i'd have to talk to you face to face i wouldn't understand anything you say

Rob, you have Helped me a LOT!

I still dont know how to put the photos here, because now trough Phtobucket i cant even see them myself :D This is funny, now you can see that i am very much an computer Genious, i cant even post photos to a forum

Rob, can you try, i can put the link to my phtobucket here. ( if i can do even that ;) )
