Two weeks ago, Dylan, Flash (our two lurchers) and I went to a TV audition for the Top Dog Show (Animal Planet) and guess what, Flash has done it! He got through the audition with flying colours a couple of weeks ago and we have already done a bit of filming last Friday! If you fancy watching us live, check the details out below... if not, the show will be on Animal Planet at some point (not sure yet when). You are invited to come along to Upton Cressett Hall in Shropshire for a fun day out for all the family and be filmed in the audience for animal planet’s prime-time TV show ‘top dog’. 28 Dogs, 7 Heats, one winner for The Golden Bone!

The most talented, mightiest mutts with owners from all over Europe will be competing in this exciting outdoor competition presented by Shauna.

With 5 very different rounds, you can cheer on pooches who excel at agility, dazzle as doggy detectives, triumph over temptation and wow the judges with their party tricks. Who will you think deserves to be crowned Top Dog 2007?

Audience Places available for:
The Heats - Sat 4th, Sun 5th, Sat 18th, Sun 19th August
The Semi’s - Sat 1st September
The Final - Sun 2nd September

Venue: Upton Cressett Hall, near Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

Gates open from 8:00 – 9.00am. Filming will finish by 18:00.
Parking, food and toilets available on site. Be prepared for changeable weather!
Canine spectators welcome too, please bring leads and poop bags.

Well, the day came and went (19th August)... and Flash was a typical saluki/lurcher! Half of the round he did really well, the other half was a bit (ok then, very...) embarassing... :o :unsure:

Flash loves to run, and run he did... he took off during the agility round - though everyone loved watching him! He took off during the second round when he had to find a ball under a flower pot... why would a saluki want to do something silly like that if he can play with one of the other dogs instead... :ph43r:

And the party trick... well, I am not even going to talk about that! :huh: In fact I am hiding... :ph43r: But to Flash's defense, it was the very last exercise after a cold, wet and windy 12-hour day and Flash was tired, cold and just not interested anymore. The judges absolutely loved him though, so we had a nice ending to the day after all!

The show will be on probably around March next year! Though some of it will be a bit embarassing, I can't wait to see it - even if it's just to watch my boy running; as this is what he does best.

The new Top Dog series starts tonight on Animal Planet, 8 pm. Our show with Flash and me won't be on until 18th April though. :D
