Title: One smart cookie

Or one very mickey taking doglet? I think i will let you decide

As some of you will know Storm had virtually no training when he came to me and we have had our ups and downs but his training has came on far better than i expected to be honest . He has learned all the basics and is quite willing to respond to all the basic commands , he will even leave most things now , unless it is something food related that he has pinched , then whatever he has pinched automatically becomes his and sometimes he still has to be bribed to give these things up .

I decided months ago that that was the way to go with him , after a wee while i started to notice that when he went to pick something up he would look at me first to see what i was doing then he would walk over and pick up an object walk to the door and look at the door then back at me as if to say "right i have this and when i take things you give me a treat so i give you what i have " This did cause quite a giggle sometimes i have to say as he just seemed to be taking the mickey a bit :D

Over the last couple of weeks i have been trying to teach him to "pick up " things , "hold " in his mouth then "fetch it " to me and finally leave "leave " on command , ok it took him a wee while to learn firstly to pick something up but with loads of encouragement and treats he learned to do that , then he managed to master the "hold" as well then "fetch "and finally the "leave" in stages brilliant , well done Storm , so whats the problem?

Well i spent all afternoon yesterday being presented with , candles , ornaments, picture frames and finally a glass vase :o Storm was so pleased with himself everytime he brought something to me , he put it down ever so gently at my feet and sat looking for a treat ;) So now i think i have to do some extensive training with him so that he learns to only bring things to me that i ask him to. ;)

I have to say i did find it quite amusing yesterday as he seemed to want to play this new game all afternoon , i ended up hiding all the ornaments and things so he could'nt bring me any more so now i will have to try finding something i want him to bring me instead of things i dont, poor confused doggie

What a clever boy he is.

It took me a long time for Troy to retrieve anything (or just hold it for that matter) and I don't really do too much training with him anymore... But a pyrenees with a good retrieve is quite something! :)

Would be even better if he only retrieved what he was asked though Vera
