What are the best brushes to use for a four month old pup? It seems he is losing lots of puppy fluffy hair and his hind legs are getting matted. Is there a trick to brushing out a puppy coat? I groom poodles using the line method and brushing against the hair but this does not seem to be getting me anywhere! Help!

Well I could well be very wrong... I'm a 17 year old peron who hasn't had my pyrenean for a great deal of time. BUT what I do (I don't know names for the type of brushing) is just start near the floor and hold the fur with my hands so that the fur underneath is "exposed". I then just keep gradually brushing upwards and finally go over the outer part of his fur with a small neddleish brush if you get me. I use a big square one for the first part. Charlie just sleeps wen I do this and I get a lot of fur out so there doesn't seem to be too much of a problem. But I could just be completely wrong... but it works lol

We use a slicker brush, which works well. But for any mats and for the coat around the ears, we use a comb with rotating teeth...

I have bought tons of brushes from slickers to rakes to thick brushes but I find the Mikki double rotating teeth comb by far the best for my 5 month old.

Noah is 4 months old and losing fuzzy puppy fluff and as it is shedding out it is becoming matted into his guard hairs mostly on his hind legs.........he needs a bath really badly but I don't want to bathe him until I get the loose hair unmatted...
I picked up a bag of brushes and a rotating comb and am going to watch a good movie with Noah in my lap and brush, brush! I will let you know how it goes he loves to be brushed and will lay there as long as I ask him. Thanks for all the advice :) I going to put it to use...........
