Two weeks ago today Noah ( our 16 week old pry pup) was not feeling well, he had vomited a few times and was very depressed. We started giving him ectrolyte solution, Monday morning my 8 month old female poodle pup Dolly was also vomiting. Off to the vet we went Noah spent a week in the hospital, Dolly was home in three days. We have no idea where we picked this up but it can live on your feet or clothing and I was at the vets and a pet store in the 2 weeks prior to them getting sick. This has devastated our kennel and our hearts.........we lost three puppy pugs that I had kept for my breeding program. Dolly faired well though the whole ordeal but I did not think Noah wold make it even when we were able to take him home........1 week ago today he came home weak, depressed and oh so thin, the vet could not get him to eat or drink at the clinic and thought that because of the nature of the breed we would be able to turn it around by taking him home. This morning as I watched Noah steal a sock and romp with the poodles I would have never known how sick he was just 2 weeks before. The company that made the vaccine I use Fort Dodge is paying for some of the cost, all of my dogs had been vaccinated and this should not have happened, no vaccine is 100%. This could have been much worse we are lucky we caught it quickly ! It will not be safe on our property for at least a year for a young pup or unvaccinated dog, I don't know if I will ever trust it.
Thanks for listening,
Denise and Dave
Thanks for posting this. It is true that vaccinations are not a 100%... There is so much controversy about vaccinations these days and I tend to lean towards the theory that we are generally overvaccinating our dogs anyway!
I am glad that your pups are ok. It must have been so worrying for you.
