Title: Flash
Description: To the vet's on Tuesday
LurcherGirl - February 5, 2006 12:14 AM (GMT)
Last night, I found that Flash's left wrist was a lot thicker than the right one. I checked it out and found something like a lump on the joint. He doesn't limp and isn't sensitive in the slightest...
I hope he has just knocked it and some antibiotics and antiinflamatories will do the trick, but I am worried! I am also praying that he is not put on restricted exercise... he would go spare without off lead walks...

Awww get well soon Flash , i know what you mean about restricted exercise Vera i have only been letting Akira and Storm off lead for a few months as you know and now having to keep Akira onlead is a nightmare as she really loves to get off and play with Storm i feel so guilty letting Storm off so i am taking them together then sneaking out with Storm for a quick run around , it is not ideal and luckily after about 10 minutes he has had enough but it still makes me feel bad , so fingers crossed Flash does not need to only be onlead for a bit

hope he it turns out to be something minor. if he needs to be kept on lead then i can imagine that you will be taking up marathon training for the next few months?????

Well, went to the vet's this morning and I didn't hear what I wanted to hear... :( My vet says it feels like a swelling of the bone, but is not sure what it is. He is puzzled that it is in such a young dog and that there is no pain (I think he was initially thinking of arthritis or worse...). So Flash needs x-rays to figure out what is going on. He is booked in for Thursday! :( Please keep your fingers crossed for my boy.

Yipee... Flash's joint it fine. The x-rays showed nothing abnormal! Very strange I know, but it looks just like one of his joints is a bit more knobbly than the other! I will however of course keep an eye on things! But for now, I am happy that all is well and my boy is home.
He is already running around and playing like mad, you wouldn't think he had a GA earlier today! :)

Just wanted to update on this one as a little of a miracle happened here. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the thickening on his wrist has completely gone and both legs now look identical and perfectly normal! How about that... ?!?! It might just be coincidence, but I have a feeling this might be down to his vegetarian diet (he has been on it for two months now) and a supplement called Missing Link.
