Title: Troy not well...
LurcherGirl - June 21, 2005 11:59 PM (GMT)
Troy hadn't been eating since yesterday morning and he was fairly lethargic - both of which we put down to the heat.
However, tonight he passed blood and the "poo" was just yellow water, mixed with blood and some grass...
We called our vet and she said that as long as he is fairly bright (he is not too depressed, but you can see that he is not happy), it is ok to bring him in tomorrow, which is what we are going to do.
We are really worried as last time Troy was ill with an unidentified virus, he was too close to death for comfort... Let's hope it is just a bacteria or something he picked up that can be sorted quickly!

Awww hugs for you all Vera and i hope Troy feels a bit brighter in the morning. theres no point in me telling you not to worry as i know how i am when one of my dogs is not well but do try to get some rest and hopefully it will just be a wee bug that he will be able to shake off himself

awww hugs to Troy. hope its nothing serious at all, and he just needs some anti biotics, maybe its a ploy to get you to give him chicken and rice.
hope he feels chirpier tomorrow, this heat cant be helping

Hubby and Troy are back from vets. Troy's abdomen is swollen, so there is an infection or inflamation going on in there. Vet thinks that it could be kidneys (or liver - OH is not sure anymore... ) that are inflamed! There was actually blood when vet took Troy's temperature.
For now, Troy is on antibiotics and antiinflamatories... and he has to go back tomorrow.
The cause of this could be many... the worst possible outcome could be a growth somewhere, the good news is that our vet can't feel anything at the moment in that respect...
Troy is still lively enough to have a go at the cats and anything else he normally barks about. So he is not too bad at the moment. Our vet says that we should not be too concerned at the moment - but as you all know, that's an impossible task ...

Easy for the vet to say not to be too concerned but we all know how worried we get when one of our babies are not well :( Hopefully the fact that Troy is lively enough today means he is on the mend , so hopefully some good news tommorrow , loads of healing thoughts still heading your way Troy

I am relieved to say that Troy is much better tonight. He has been eating chicken and fish and nature diet (and was looking for more) and has been drinking ok! He looks a lot brighter and appears to be feeling better!
He is still going back for a check up tomorrow, but hopefully will be getting the all clear.
He really had us worried! But all seems well now!
