Title: Some people grrr

After Storm being over protective , after that bloke shouting at me outside my house a couple of weeks ago, i have done loads of training and socializing with him over the last wee while trips to the retail park, around pets at home the park at busy times, asdas car park etc and he has been doing really well , he is learning that if he sits quietly people and their dogs will come and say hello :D

What amazes me is how stupid some people can be , for example yesterday afternoon we took Akira and Storm up the park for a walk, we saw a old man walking along in the distance with his lab off lead so we cut diagonally accross the park so we would not have to let the dog get too close to Storm , so what does the guy do? Leaves the path and starts walking diagonally in our direction , so we change direction down towards the path again and a guy on a push bike stopped to speak to us and make a fuss of the dogs Storm was an angel and sat nicely to say hello poor Akira was scared of his golf bag on his back so the guy got off his bike and took the golf bag off so she would speak to him , lovely , however the old guy with the lab changed direction towards us again and was getting closer and closer and the guy on the bike said to me , i think if i was him i would have put my dog on the lead by now , at that moment Storm noticed the lab was just too close so he started barking :( I turned him around and the guy off the bike went in front of Storm i think he was trying to block his view lol I ended up asking the old guy to put his dog on the lead as by this time Storm was getting a bit wound up , the thing that really bugged me is the old guy would not put the dogs lead on and it was getting closer and closer and although i don't think Storm would have went for it , i was not sure it would not go for him with him barking

Luckily Storm is getting better at sitting when he reacts like this but it just really annoys me that i am putting in the work with Storm and you get people like this old guy that are either very rude or very ignorant , and what worries me is because of the sheer size of Storm if a dog off lead gets too close and goes for him on lead, he will still be made out to be the bad aggressive dog

Rant over sorry just needed to vent a bit

A few weeks back my daughter and I took Izzy and Hun over the park, earlier on a Sunday than normal. We bumped into a man with a retreiver and a boxer. Hun was off lead and played with them both nicley. Izzy was so good with them and bounced happily around, although I will not let her off the lead. The man came over and spoke to us - said how lovely Izzy was and couldnt she be let off to play. I explained to him why, but he was having none of it - he started to bend down and take her lead off

I had to physically stop him, he was saying that he could see a good dog when he saw one and that she would come back if called. I had to lose my temper a little with him.

Can you imagine letting Izzy off in an open park :ph43r:

Oh i know thats the way i think as well can you imagine any one of our dogs running up to anybody barking to say hello? :o

Some people just dont listen i wish i had a £ for every time somebody has told me Akira would run with the pack up the park i would be loaded by now, we know our dogs and what they will and wont do , so we do the best we can for them and thats why i get really  at people who seem to think it is ok to let their dogs run at mine barking , it would be a different story if i allowed Storm to do it im sure. Because i have had Akira from a puppy her manners are quite good and she knows if she sits she gets to say hello Storm is learning slowly but we could do without these kind of set backs
