Hi heres some pics of my Pyrenean Mountain Dog Akira

To this in a few short months

As you can see she is still smiling , and no she had not eaten any children just a large bone

Here is one of my favorite pic's of Akira with my lovely boy Taz who sadly left us for the rainbow bridge in January, he was akiras best pal and she still misses him as we all do

user posted image

As some of you will know i started fostering this year as i did'nt feel ready to have another dog so soon after losing Taz but i knew Akira needed some company so we had the lovely Bart to stay for a while but he was too laid back and was not happy with the fluffy poopie boucing around him , so i had to ask for him to be moved as he was unhappy here :(

After Bart, came the lovely Storm , i could not say no so he is here at the moment looking very comfy lol

Akira and Storm get on really well and Akira has calmed down a wee bit since he came here , she seems to know her boundries with Storm and he rarely tells her off for anything , he has so much patience with her it is lovely to see them interacting , he has started playing with her a lot more now and he will even start a game where as before it was allways Akira that started all the games , i thought i would show you this pic of them both having a rest after a daft 10 minutes chasing each other and playing , i just love the expressions on both their faces

They are gentle leaders not ribbons i know Storm is doing well with his training Shona but i think i would be pushing him by using ribbons , and Akira would just eat them :D

I got fed up with boring black , red and green G/L's so i found these great colours on line and they came all the way from America in 5 days , they do all different colours and they are so nice i might just have to have bright orange and purple next time hehehehe

they look great - are they better than haltis? i find the halti rides up into Faeths eyes, i havent had to use one on Rohan (yet!)

edited to add: just looked at teh gentle leader site - they sem very very simialr to halti

Pyreelover - July 5, 2005 04:38 PM (GMT)
I like them better than Haltis Shona for that very reason , when i first tried using a head collar i used a halti first but it did ride up into Akiras eyes so i tried another couple and out of them all i much prefer the gentle leaders , which don't ride up their faces in the same wat at all and both Akira and Storm wear them no problem , which is just as well as they give you so much more control that a normal lead and collar :D

Pyreelover - July 5, 2005 04:57 PM (GMT)
:D :D :D could well be Shona i will have to check that , i do know that i paid £34 for both and that included shipping from America and i am still impressed i got them within 5 days

As you all know i was told Storm has some food agression problems and i have been taking things really slowly with him and Akira around food , i have been giving them treats and biscuits and things together but i thought you would like to see these pics Robert has just taken of Akira and Storm sharing a tub of cottage cheese :D

You would not think Akira and Storm had loads of room to lie in the livingroom they have to get themselves squashed into a corner lol This is the first time they have ever slept cuddled in and i thought it was so cute i had to show you

Today i took Akira and Storm for a walk on the local beach with , wait for it , 5 Rotties , a Weimaraner and a few collies Akira loves the water but i dont think Storm knew quite what to make of the sea he has been to lochs but i dont think he has seen the tide before as he kept jumping back from the waves sliding up the beach

Storm was the perfect gentleman today and behaved very well , not a single grumble or bark at any of the dogs and it was the first time he had met some of them , i was really proud of him when a strange dog came right up and tried to run between him and Akira , not a reaction at all . Even madam was on her best behaviour and thats saying something :D

We did get some funny looks from some people mind you seeing all these big dogs behaving themselves must have been quite a sight for people not used to seeing so many in the one place .

That last pic tickled me..nevs just the same only when he see's something he paws my curtains and has broke the rail. He also jumped on the coffee table (mahogony no less) in a gone wrong attempt to jump up at sofa to get to window <_< and flatened it to my wifes terror!

He also thinks he's a lap dog too..you'd think he realises his error when you turn blue, when he squashes the kids they look like smurfs..and I'm papa smurf when he sits on me too! :P

Fantastic pics
