That there's new responses since the last time you viewed it.
The colored envelopes indicate wether the thread is popular or not. Bright "red" means it's "hot" and that there's new responses, pale "red" means it's hot and no new responses, bright and light blue mean pretty much the same thing except that the thread isn't "popular". Or some sh*t like that. I really don't know exactly how the forum software ranks that stuff.
Oh, and green is for polls.
