It means that there are new replies in the thread since you last clicked on it. But I don't like it. And the envelope shaded out before (and still) when you'd read the thread. Why did it need to change?

I didn't change the envelope. I just replaced the _ with the yellow triangle so it would be easier to tell when there are new replies in a thread. there used to be an image there, and Harrison replaced it with the _ which I found difficult to see easily and click easily (especially if I'm on a handheld).

Lose it...it is annoying as hell...and there is nothing worth reading if you're on your handheld...

pay attention. there has always been a marker for posts with new replies.
it's amusing to me that people are making such a big deal out of it. if you ignored it before, why can't you ignore it now?
