would that be a good idea? I'm thinking questions like "I'll be in Cincinnati for the weekend, what should I see/eat/drink?" or "Where in Europe should I go for a week, given that I enjoy X, Y, and Z? Would enough people use it, or should we just regulate those questions to the Blah Blah Blah forum?
thats a damn good idea.....
I great idea Magnus, and one that I'll go ahead and take advantage of now if I may....
Ok, here's the deal, my parent's were married in Germany while my father was stationed there during his stint in the army (he flew her over, she's not a native). Anyway, they are now approaching their 40th anniversary, and they've never been able to go back. Times have been tough healthwise, but my mother has had both of her knees replaced this year, and both of them have been dieting and actually working out a little, and both are in the best shape they've been for a long time - anyway, my sister and I discussed over the weekend the possibility of saving up for a year, and sending the both of them back to Germany when we had the available funds.
So, three questions, what kind of expenses are we looking at in order to send two people for a week long excursion to Germany? $2000? $3000? Any world travelers out there have some experience in pricing trips like this?
What type of account has the best interest rates nowadays, that my sister and I could start shoving money into and hopefully have a significant return on in a year or two?
And finally, if anyone knows, when is the best time to take a trip to Germany?
Would very much appreciate any information that could be passed along.

Wish I could help you, I went to Germany 8 years ago, but that was with a student travel package and as a 16 year old I was seperated from the financial end of it. I think it cost like 1700 bucks, if that gives you a figure to scale from.
Seasonally, I suppose it depends on where you're going. I think summers are generally a little hotter than herew, but it depends on where you are.
I don't know where your friends are going or what they specifically enjoy, but if you are in the south area and can swing by Austria, Salzburg is my favorite city in the world.
