I didn't see the Dallas game, but I heard Romo was overthrowing his receivers today. Everyone except Austin, who is tall, agile, and has good hands. Good enough for 250 yards and 2 TDs today. I started him (for the first time) on my fantasy team today, which is a sweet thing, because Calvin Johnson had 2 yards and an injury.

I hate to tell Jerry Jones this, but the stud receiver he gave up the farm for in Roy Williams was already on his roster. He just needed a bump up on the depth chart. I've been supportive of Williams, and in all fairness Romo never should have hung him up in the air in week 4, exposing his ribs. A defender was closing on him fast, Romo (and Williams) would have been better off if had he thrown the ball away.

Jones has been looking for his pencil, when it has been parked on his ear all the while. A WR in Dallas named Miles Austin.

Actually Romo was pretty accurate. Just some really bad play calling again and I have no idea why they were playing Barber so much. I think Austin belongs as the #2 when Williams gets back and put Crayton back in the slot. Austin has much more upside then muff the punt crayton.

Austin had a great game (over half the yards for the Dallas offense; 250-498), but he wasn't perfect. There were 2 (or was it 3) passes in the end zone that went through his hands.

And there were a handful of passes that were a little high (you could count them on one hand), but catchable.

I'm going to give myself a little fanny-pat here...

After he saved the Cowboys from losing to the Chiefs via 250 receiving yards and a pair of 50-plus-yard touchdowns, Miles Austin earned more playing time.

How much more? He's now running with the ones.

According to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Austin practiced on Monday with the first team, displacing Patrick Crayton to the role of third receiver.

Receivers coach Ray Sherman declined to confirm the obvious fact that Austin and Roy Williams are now the starting receivers.

"Right now, we are going through practice," Sherman said. "We have to make that decision when it comes."

Williams returned to practice after missing all of the Chiefs game and crunch time of a loss to the Broncos with a rib injury.

Austin re-signed with the Cowboys as a restricted free agent, at the second-round tender level of $1.545 million. Absent a new labor agreement, he'll be a restricted free agent again in 2010.
