| re-regurgitated. Speaking on the Senate floor in July of 2003, Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla) rightly called the threat of catastrophic global warming the "greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people." Inhofe :fool: what a joke. |

Can you explain what catastrophic global warming is? Thanks |
| QUOTE (fridaygolfer @ Oct 6 2009, 11:15 AM) | ||||
to you what's catastrophic about it is that it's true. |

Is that the best you know on how to not answer a legitimate question? |
| QUOTE (fridaygolfer @ Oct 6 2009, 01:23 PM) | ||||||||
i know you want to get into a twisted semantics argument. see, the actuality of the situation is that the actual observed climate data clearly shows the ipcc reports, if anything, dramatically understate the impact. |

Still no answer. Try real hard. I'll try to make it easier for you. What is YOUR preception of what is catastrophic about global warming? Don't rely on the IPCC or DeSmogBlog. Try thinking for yourself and answer the question. It isn't that hard. |

Try thinking for yourself and answer the question. It isn't that hard. hey jackass, when you give YOUR perception, what are you relying on? all the data you've collected yourself? all the peer reviewed papers you've written yourself? or what you've read on inhofes site or in the oregons institutes releases? your dancing around thinking you've scored some kind of points but you're just confirming my opinion of you. and chin, i can't play golf any more, ( some people say i never could ) or run or play ball, a daily walk is all i get in nowadays. but thanks for asking. |

no chin. i had a tumor removed from my spine when i was 8. they flew me from taiwan to a.f. base in japan for the operation. i even had the same surgeon that operated on kennedy's back. that was back when the best surgeons were in the military. complications from that led to two surgeries when i was 17 to fuse my spine and put in a couple of rods. everything was fine for 30 years after that but now it's been going sideways for the last 5 or 6 years. |
| QUOTE (JohnDough @ Oct 7 2009, 07:07 PM) | ||||

| QUOTE (fridaygolfer @ Oct 7 2009, 12:17 PM) | ||||||
do i get to refer to the ipcc and other scientific data? you said no before, crusty. |
| QUOTE (JohnDough @ Oct 7 2009, 07:34 PM) | ||||||||
if you have to. I mean I wouldn't want YOUR own thoughts on the subject. That's asking too much from a lemming like yourself. |
| QUOTE (fridaygolfer @ Oct 7 2009, 05:18 PM) | ||||||||||
what a friccin moron you are. do you mean to say you form your opinion WITHOUT reading and referring to the science on the subject. you're like some little ignorant kid trying to sound so grown up and sophisticated. look at your name tag and be sure to get on the right bus. it's the short one. |
| QUOTE (OakBan @ Oct 7 2009, 05:22 PM) |

| QUOTE (JohnDough @ Oct 8 2009, 05:29 AM) | ||||||||||||
No fukstick, I was asking you YOUR opinion on the data that YOU have collected. You still can't answer a basic and simple question without throwing insults. I'll ask you one more time and try to phrase it easier for you: What is YOUR preception of what constitutes catastrophic global warming? (based on the data that YOU know and have READ up on) Once you answer this question, I am more than willing to give you my response. This is what debate is. Of course in your global warming hysterical world, the debate is over. Isn't that right, Dopey? |

john i'm no scientist. i can't give you my opinion based on data i've collected. and you said i'm not to refer to data others have collected, such as the ipcc, so i honestly don't know what you want from me. you seem to have a problem even when i post things from sites by scientists for scientists.i do have an opinion based on what i have read and i think you know what it is. i'm not asking that middle class people live in caves and eat dead twigs. i don't believe the wealthy need to live a middle class life. it's all relative. oak can't understand that but i'm sure you can. just be smart and responsible in your everyday choices to start with. and regulation and policing is in order for offending industries as well. and anyways.... Over on DotEarth, Andy Revkin has an interesting post about the “burning embers” diagram from the latest IPCC. The upshot of the story is that several countries well-known for their desire to do nothing about climate change were able to remove an alarming figure from the 2007 report: The diagram, known as “burning embers,” is an updated version of one that was a central feature of the panel’s preceding climate report in 2001. The main opposition to including the diagram in 2007, they say, came from officials representing the United States, China, Russia and Saudi Arabia. People who argue that the IPCC is an “alarmist” body forget that virtually all of the world’s governments belong to it. Thus, governments that don’t want to do anything about climate change have just as much input to the report as countries that do. This tension between the ideological factions of the IPCC actually gives the reports credibility. Only statements that everyone agrees to make it into the report. A few countries that object to some result can keep it out of the report. This is, in fact, why the IPCC process was designed this way. This is why some people argue that the actual science of climate change is more alarming than that revealed in the IPCC reports. In any event, if you read the IPCC reports and find it alarming, then you can have great confidence that your alarm is warranted. http://www.grist.org/article/Why-you-shoul...part-134992653/ |
