Title: Woohoo! Maiden coming back to the States!
Description: April 2nd.
Dal1as - February 10, 2009 10:55 PM (GMT)
The last concert of their tour will be in Ft Lauderdale April 2nd. Ironically I haven't been there since Spring Break 1990. I'm flying out to see them considering I can only remember about half of their concert here in MD last year. (long story involving some girl and a concussion)
I'm stoked. Just hope I can find a hotel room.
You going drix?

You seem to have good taste in music. What do you think about Dream Theater. I've heard a couple of their songs and I know they re-did Maiden's Beast album but they seem more technical with not much passion. Just heard a few of their songs though.

Masks and tacky unoriginal metal riffs, punctuated by that annoying death metal voice.

I've never listened to them. Probably should pick something up eventually...
As far as metal goes, just lately I've been listening to Strapping Young Lad's "The New Black" over and over and over again. Those guys f*cking kick some metal ass, I tell you what.

Hmmm, will have to check them out. Always hear of dream theater but the songs I've heard are decent, just don't seem to show much passion.

Drix, how long you been playing guitar? You any good? I play drums.

i just turned 36, and i got my first guitar on my 13th birthday, just after i heard 'somewhere in time' for the first time. it didn't take long - one or two listens to the lead in 'wasted years', and that's all it took. i was always a kiss fan and loved them, and wanted to start out on drums, but my mother just would not have it. it only took a little while longer, and i found my excuse to play guitar (please check avatar to the left) right around january of 1986.
i now play in two bands - an original band (starting recording pre-production tonight), and as 'adrian smith' in an iron maiden tribute band here in the area. i just got the jackson adrian smith dinky for this very reason, in fact. the sites have my real name on them and such so...
all of the sudden, i have a new outlook on you, prowling.

Damn man! All that and you almost missed this concert! :D
Tho solo from "Wasted Years" is my all time fav. Brings chills to my spine.
Had a buddy I grew up with who was incredible on guitar but a drunk. A major SRV fan. Waste of talent. He really could have went somewhere but the drinking and attitude problem didn't help.
Love listening to guitar, just never learned how to play. Taught myself chariots of fire or something on the piano and played the recorder in grade school.

i know; i have been really busy lately, and i just haven't been checking the sites, and i had no idea. i'm sure that it's going to sell out quickly. i was very nervous, and we were online at midnight friday night trying to get tickets, and i wanted 111, but the other guitar player was having problems with his connection, so i got that one in 108 just in case.
if i would have only known, i would have just saved my travel/ticket expense from last june's show in cleveland, but oh well; i got to see family and such, so it was nice.
i can only imagine that they should sound awesome, having had so much playing time and so many shows done already. i've never gotten to see the last night of the tour, so this will be a new twist on the maiden for me. they were outstanding in 'rock in rio', and this is the last night of a big, big tour, so i've got great hopes.
nicko lives in ft lauderdale, and told me to look him up when he was in florida sometime when i got to meet him on the 'matter of life and death' tour in boston, so i might just have to take him up on it!

Don't know the whole story about Mustaine but my friend was pretty bad. I had to knock his ass out once after he threw a dart in to one of his bandmembers leg and tried to take his keys to go to the store. He could barely stand up.
