Title: Rock Band
Redneck Jihad - December 9, 2007 05:02 PM (GMT)
Excellent party game for the family and guests. Drums are a bitch and if you master them on expert you will no doubt learn how to play the real drums at least at a basic level.

Are you working on drums, RJ?

Good, someone who knows about this game. I want to get it for my son, but what system should I get (playstation, etc)?

I tried the drums a bit and its a bitch on the harder levels. Wildhare, I am certain its just as good for all the systems it is out for. Does he have a system already?

He has a Wii, but I'm leaning towards getting him an X-box. The kid is a serious musician (does guitar hero on expert) and is classically trained on trumpet. In other words, a future starving musician.

RB for PS3 comes with a wireless guitar and when they add more songs you can downlaod them for free as oppsoed to getting hosed by Mricrosoft to download crap for your Xbox.
Never played it, it's being held up until Christmas morning.

Not true Adam. The song downloads will not be free and the guitar that comes with it compared to GH sucks. We don't even use that one and use the GH ones instead. the drums are wired, the mic is wired. Whats one more wire? You are going to use wires with this game regardless.
The only difference between guitars in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game is the fact that people who buy the 360 version get a wired guitar, whereas PS3 owners get a wireless one. On the flip side, PS3 owners don't get a USB hub to connect all the instruments to, whereas 360 owners do. That shouldn't be an issue if you have an older PS3, but if you have a newer one with the two USB ports, you'll need to buy one of those hubs separately. It's also worth noting that you only get one guitar with the bundle on either platform, but if you own a Guitar Hero guitar for the 360, you can use it with the 360 version of Rock Band.

Doesn't take a geek to know that PS3 downloads will cost money and I just googled the rest based on your claims. Stupidity needs help now and then.

Dude, it was a fucking joke. I can appreciate grown men getting heavily wrapped in video games... I really can. It's just not for me. I play Madden and NBA with the kid and we own a PS3 and an XBo360. I tried Halo and Call of Duty once and those seem pretty cool. The kid just picked up Assains Creed and loves it. Other than that, I couldn't tell you which system is better but the main user in our house likes them both.

Thanks for the info, Red. X-Box it is.
(I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting this more for me than him. I can hardly wait to try it.)
