Anyone here play Civ III? I know there's a Civ IV, but they improved it so much, that they ruined it. $10 at Walmart. If you get the game, I suggest you get the strategy guide, also. You may have to order it on-line. It's a deep game.

Stockpile ICBMs and spy spy spy. If someone busts a spy nuke the hell out of them. I haven't played IV, but I do like III.

Civ IV wasnt so much an improvement but it reverted back to Civ II and undid a lot of the changes made in Civ III. For all Civ III's changes, it wasnt very well thought out and made the game less playable.

Civ III has some flaws in it that make it very hard to play. Despite my PC greatly exceeding the minimum requirements, the computer's turn would take 5-10 minutes once you hit the industrial age and it would only get worse as the game went on from there. Now with Civ IV using the same PC, the turns are always pretty quick.

Also, civ III got too cute with the hitpoints and attack. Civ IV uses a single number for the units strength like Civ II did, but allows a variety of experience based upgrades.
