Title: Suggestions Thread

Neo - March 10, 2005 08:59 AM (GMT)
If you have any ideas of how you'd like to see the forum changed, please post your ideas here.

There are also a few ideas I am currently thinking about that I'd like your input on:

- Members-Only Area:
Should we have implement it? What this means is that people would not be able to see certain forums unless they are registered (meaning I've approved them). I don't know how much of an issue this is, but some people may feel more comfortable posting things that may be personal or posting pictures, etc.

- Registration:
Right now as it stands it is by admin validation, meaning I'd have to manually approve people who join. This was done recently since the other forum spread word about us, and there was a concern some 'questionable' people might come over. Should we allow users to join without email validation or admin validation?

- Shout Box:
There's a thread in the off-topic, if you could, post your opinions about it there. The thread also explains how to use it and its purpose.

- Forum Sections:
Should they be changed, some deleted or added? I was thinking of combining the World Cup and NT section together since they are likely going to overlap. As well, I was considering just making the soccer news forum strictly for news articles. This way it will be easier to sift through the latest news.

Let me know what you guys think

Hutnik Krakow - March 10, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
I think you should do the members only forum now and move all the threads with our pics into there, they were posted for only members to see, I for one do not feel comfortable with anyone on the net looking at pictures of my girl, it was only something I wanted to share with you guys.

tedski - March 11, 2005 08:40 PM (GMT)
i think its only right you vet who wants to join us as i for one would not be impressed if some of the brain deads came onto our site,we want to keep this a reasonable site as possible, too many dupy on the other one!

Neo - March 13, 2005 06:21 AM (GMT)
Okay registration I'm going to leave alone as it is (requiring my validation), and the member-only section can be found under the Off-Topic. What about the forums, should we get rid of or add any? Any other changes?

Another idea that came to me while talking with Hutnik...is how about expanding this forum a bit, so it is not strictly Polish soccer only? What if we made a section for UEFA in general (while keeping the international section for CONCACAF, Asia, and the rest of the world)? This way we can discuss with not only Polish fans, and perhaps get more objective views? What do you guys think?

tedski - March 14, 2005 06:41 PM (GMT)
when you say discuss with not only polish fans and get more objective comments!!!! how does that work?

Neo - March 14, 2005 07:08 PM (GMT)
well I don't think it applies to us...yet.. But some Polish fans are a bit bias in what they say, am just saying it may be a good mix to see what other non-Polish fans think of our teams and players as well

tedski - March 14, 2005 07:26 PM (GMT)
sounds good to me,could be interesting!

Neo - March 15, 2005 09:48 AM (GMT)
I think I'm gonna hold off on that temporarily though, shouldn't be expanding if we don't have a solid group of Polish members first ;)

I've got another idea, let me know what you think:

There are no doubt many 'casual' fans. I was thinking a good way to maybe attract these casual fans into becoming like us, we could give them a brief bio of our team, a Polish soccer for dummies if you will. Maybe devote a thread to giving people information about our history, our players, our prospects, and so on. That way people can maybe create an interest in the team, at least moreso than they already may have.

I'm not too sure myself, as I wonder how much of a need would exist since I don't know how many 'casual' fans would look for a forum in the first place. But part of me thinks this would provoke more of an interest in the soccer-related forums. What do you think?

tedski - March 15, 2005 07:14 PM (GMT)
im all up for new ideas, just dont want to get lumberd with a load of d@@@s like the other site.

Neo - March 15, 2005 08:38 PM (GMT)
I agree, which is why we've already lost a few people. It's ironic really, people want this forum not to turn into the other but don't want rules at the same time. Quality is more important than quantity though, hopefully if we add a few more intelligent people around here our numbers won't matter as much.

tedski - March 15, 2005 10:09 PM (GMT)
with you on that, the numbers will grow, our kibice site only had about 4 members for 2years and then it took off(i joined ;)) seriously we have 85 members now but only about 20 post regulary, there are no smutty pics, language is tolerable to a certain degree but no one falls out or has a pop at anyone else unlike "the other forum". we plod on my friend ;)

Neo - March 16, 2005 06:48 AM (GMT)
Well I don't think (at least I hope) that won't take as long for this site We are getting about 20 or so unique visitors per day - but they are soccer fans in general, so no guarantee if they Polish or not so they probably pay little attention. So I guess there is the hope that at least we will have some minor expansion in the near future, and maybe in a few weeks when it reaches the search engines we'll have a solid base.

tedski - March 16, 2005 04:11 PM (GMT)
not being a pc wizzkid what does when it reaches the search engines mean? i know about the search engines but how come we aint reached them yet?

Neo - March 16, 2005 04:35 PM (GMT)
it can take weeks for a site to come up after you submit it, about 6-8 weeks is what most say, and even that is not a guarantee.

Neo - March 17, 2005 02:31 AM (GMT)
Fantastic news. I checked and we made it on google already, the first page worth for ''polish soccer'' results. I've noticed a lot of people search for ''polish soccer teams'' , if I use those keywords for the site we can probably be in the top 5 for those (I have a backup site for this one and it ranks very well using those keywords). Things look very good, forget those scabs we were trying to get from the other site, pretty soon I think we will be getting some traffic come our way.

So what I am thinking of doing is I'm going to try and devote a lot of effort into the Polish League forum, because that's what people want - information on Polish League Teams, so I am wondering, do you know of good places on the web to find information on our league?

Zurawski - March 21, 2005 04:28 AM (GMT)
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I am going to be helping Neo admin the site with updates and making sure the content is up to date.

tedski - March 21, 2005 01:07 PM (GMT)

tedski - March 23, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
try this, you may already have it,i hope it works!!! http://sport.gazeta.pl/pilka/0,35478,1523168.html

tedski - March 23, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)
hmmmmmmmm.looks like ive come across the same site, sorry chaps :(

Neo - March 24, 2005 09:38 AM (GMT)
wow wow wow. The day has come. we are #3 in google for "Polish Soccer" results, right behind the big boys. Changing the keywords worked as well as I had hoped. For "Polish Soccer Teams" we are the #4, but the 3 ahead of us are useless sites or expired sites. I expect the traffic to pick up as early as today, let's hope that upon Tedski's return we have a few new members!!!

tedski - March 24, 2005 07:46 PM (GMT)
i was actually curious about that as to why we were down the pecking order but thats great news, heres hoping :goodjob:

Neo - March 24, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
the reason those guys are ahead of us? they have polishsoccer.whatever in their domain name, we don't (the site entered uses the invision domain). I am going to see if putting the .cjb.net part into google will work or not (that way polishsoccer will be in the domain), but I'm not sure if that would put us in first or not.

Either way I don't think it's too bad considering people will see that the .net site hasn't been updated since the France match, while the .com site (personally I can't stand the way that site looks) isn't too bad but has few working links. The good thing is we are up there and our only real competition is the .com site.

tedski - March 24, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
there are a few decent people there but unfortunately to many dupy do spoil it,i must admit i still do post there, here and on our kibice site,im a post a holick!! seriously though this site is good,i had my doubts initially but i do think this one can go from strength to strength, just need a few more members and were laughing. :goodjob:

Zurawski - March 25, 2005 07:17 AM (GMT)
Agreed. And the great thing is it will only be a matter of time. Now that qualifications are starting up you can bet people are going to be looking for a Polish Soccer site. The other Polish Soccer sites have too much clutter, the first time I visited them I didn't even notice they had a forum! This is why Neo and I are a bit reserved on making a main page, although we may decide to eventually. Personally I think it's better to have the news and forum all in one.

Think about it - is the latest news (on the .com site) on their main page or in the forum? It's always in the forum before it is even on the main page, which boggles the mind thinking why even have the site? Just for looks? It seems that is all it is there for - just to look nice, nothing more.

Neo - March 25, 2005 10:29 PM (GMT)
I am proud to say I haven't gone to that place in a long time (I do have a glance but do not post). I seriously think this place is much better, once the traffic comes, and post whores like us keep the place busy, people will never look back

Neo - March 28, 2005 07:16 AM (GMT)
Well I guess the weekend has brough both good and bad news. The bad being no new members. The good being in the past 2 days we have had about 30 people come to this site through the search engines. Perhaps people think we are still too small? hummm...

Zurawski - March 28, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
d'oh

Zurawski - March 31, 2005 08:38 AM (GMT)
What I've actually come to notice is that most of our topics are simply news. This may explain the reason we don't have people joining. To join a forum is to join a discussion - what more can you say about something that is a fact, not debatable? Nothing. I've cluttered up the forum with a bunch of debates to hopefully spark some interest.

Neo - April 1, 2005 05:05 AM (GMT)
So guys I've pmed a bunch of yas...and I'm not sure what to do. Should we switch?

tedski - April 2, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
