Jan. 31 (Bloomberg) -- German soccer club SC Paderborn said it suspended captain Thijs Waterink after it learned he accepted money before a match in which the third division club beat elite Bundesliga team SV Hamburg last August.

Waterink, 36, received 10,000 euros ($13,031) close to the Hermann Loens stadium in Paderborn on Aug. 21, the day of the game, ``from a man with a Mediterranean appearance unknown to him,'' Paderborn's president Wilfried Finke said at a televised press conference. Speaking to N24 television, Finke said the man wanted the money back if Paderborn didn't win.

10,000 Euros...that's it? That seems like an insignificant amount of money to risk your reputation for.
