Title: Fantasy Flight
Description: I love these guys

Fantasy Flight, IMO, puts out the best board and tile games that I've played. I seriously have more of their games than any other distributor. Anyhow, does anyone else love these games as much as me? <3.
Their games include Arkham Horror, Fury of Dracula, Twilight Imperium, A Game of Thrones, Runebound, Doom, and their Silver Line series of some what smaller games which I'm actually pretty fond of. Anyhow, I hope to see plenty of FF at the con this year!

For those who only recognized a few of the above names, the
Silver Line series includes Kingdoms, Magdar, Colossal Arena, Inkognito, King's Gate, Mutiny!, Quicksand, Atlanteon, and others. Many of these are created by Reiner Knizia, although other designers also can be found in this line.

I LOVE!!!! Twilight Imperium. :D
Need to find 4 other players however that would want to play such a game and could devote an entire day to the task.
I know this was played last year at the Con as well... Sadly :( I was not able to play it, but it look like so much fun....

At some point I would be willing to sit down and learn it; I haven't had a chance to play yet, but everything I've heard sounds interesting.

Its Great...
TI3 is an epic empire-building game of intersteller conflict, trade, and struggle for power. Players take the roles of ancient galactic civilizations, each seeking to sieze the imperial throne via warfare, diplomacy, and technological progression. With a huge oversize geomorphic board made of tiles insuring that the galaxy is never the same twice. Fleets of ships controll space, Ground Troops dig in on planets under massive planetary defense guns (Think of Hoth), and the diplomats wage war changing the laws (and rules) of the game every turn.
Its like no other game (unless you play MOO on the PC), so no other Board Game does it with this kind of style.

So, this is something like Axis & Allies ^3, both in terms of gameplay and time comittment? Yeah, I can see why it might get played at cons.
ThePhoenix - May 29, 2006 04:24 PM (GMT)
It does have an Axis and Allies feel to the military part of the game, but then you add politcis, and everyone is fighting everyone else. The fact that you can win just with military force, but more likly it will require advanced technology and diplomacy to pull out a win.

Descent, Colossal Arena, and Citadels will all be run during ConGames this summer! If anyone's interested in playing go ahead and sign up. I'm hoping to have a FULL table for Citadels, with 7 or 8 players scheming. Anyone feeling up to that?

Anyone seen the expansion to Arkham Horror yet? I've gotten a chance to play the original, and have seen the expansion out in stores, but haven't gotten to crack it open yet. From the box, it sounds like it adds a good number of item cards, but not a lot else in terms of investigators or elder ones. Of course, I could be mistaken. Any ideas?

I would be interested in Twighlight of the Imperium. I have the game, but never played it. I am down all 4 days if someone want to play. Need to learn it. Ill read it through but will need an experienced player to keep things going smooth. B)

Twilight is a great game. You'd have to book like two 6 hour slots in order to play it, but it would be worth it if you can get the players! No less than six though or it's just odd. A friend of mine tried with four and I hear it wasn't nearly as good. If you have it, you could try to run it and get people to play.

Schedule it, it does help to have at least one person that knows what is going on, and a few others that have read the rule book. It can play fast if you know what is going on. Still do at least 8 hours for the event, or run it late at night so that you can play into the weeeeee hours of the morning.

Well as it turns out i am running demos for flames of War the rest of the time I am doing Hordes and Warmachine stuff. I'll bring it just incase things fall through.

Good news for you! I'm going to be running a game of Twilight Imperium at the con for up to 8 players - maybe two games!
Before I register the event, I'd like your input on when I should schedule it. I can do Thursday or Sunday from about 1:00pm to 12pm.
Or, I can get daring, and run a game from 10pm until 10am the next morning! If you're willing to be exhausted, we can keep the con going 24 hours!
So, let me have some input there in the next few days. But rest assured - Twilight Imperium is coming.

Also, I'll probably have other Fantasy Flight games with me. Good, big games I can bring for multiple players include:
Doom: The Boardgame
Descent: Journeys in the Dark
Arkham Horror
Fury of Dracula
It looks like there's already a World of Warcraft board game scheduled, which is great!
I'll also make time to teach Twilight Imperium before the game, for any new players. The game isn't hard - it has a lot of rules, but they all synchronize and work together beautifully.
ThePhoenix - April 16, 2007 05:13 PM (GMT)
I love Twilight! But a rules brief is not a bad idea; else you will slow down the game. Based on what I know of the space Thursday Night before 7pm would not be possible as the late night hotel space does not come online until 7:00pm, though you could do a rule and people gathering phase earlier on Thursday.
Sunday the Last events start at 2:00pm, and the halls start closing 4 to 6 hours after that. So a long game would bump into tear down / clean up crews.
That aside, as always register sooner than later to assure you get the space you need for the games, since a lot of these do run, long.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Note of Fury of Dracula, I tried this game only once, and it seemed cool, but you really need to play it with people that like to solve mysteries, the group I played with mostly did not get the game so it was tedious to them, which brought down the mood a bit.
bfiggins - April 16, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
I agree; FoD is a game that gets much, much better (and tenser) once both sides have some experience with the game. I am a vicious Dracula :D
Thanks for the details on the exact times that rooms are available. I think I might plan TI3 for Saturday night to Sunday morning. I'll have some intro sessions on Thursday and Friday, then on Saturday, I'll ask for space for an 8-player game from...say, 7pm Saturday until 11am Sunday. (Not that the game will run that long, but it'll be good to have the time available, since everyone will be tired late at night and probably running slower.)
If that sounds possible, then as soon as I confirm all my plans for the con, I'll enter the event into the registry.
