Board Games and RPGs are the ones I play the most. I love all games and play just about everything I can, but these days as life gets in the way Board Gaming is the main outlet I can make use of.

Top Board Games around here:

Settlers of Catan, Formula De, Tikal, Blockus, (never get to play it but Twilight Imperium) Robo Rally...

RPGs

Fan of Small person making a big difference games, the pesent hero saving the village over the son of a god saving the world.

Warhammer RPG, Star Wars D6 (not the D20 crap, but do love d20 books for ideas), Cyber punk, Twilight 2000, etc...

Hiya! Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

I had to go with Miniatures and RPGs.

Granted, my miniature games are of the pre-painted collectable (WizKids) variety, but they're still miniatures! Mage Knight and MechWarrior would be my main choices.

RPGs? Woof. Longer list. Just off the top of my head:

Palladium Megaversal system (Rifts, Robotech, Heroes Unlimited 2, etc.)
Paranoia
1st edition AD&D
Marvel Superheores (FASERIP)
... and many others that I have collected, even if I haven't played.

Good to here from you Ninja Dan :ph43r:

So do you prefer 1st Edition AD&D over 2nd or 3.5?

I must admit that I was one of those that sold all of my 1st edition stuff when 2nd edition came out. (Boooo hissss). Since then, I've not gotten anything new in the game, but have re-purchased my old stuff.

I'm considering giving 4th edition a shot, but we'll see. I did pick up Star Wars Saga Edition, and felt that it was worth the money I'd spent.

I've grown up a bit since the 90's. While I still have the mental block on 2nd edition, and was too obsessed with Palladium (and work) during 3rd and 3.5, I think 4th may be something I'd enjoy.

Still staying away from the minis, though. I've had my fun with CMGs. Although if WotC comes out with GI Joe minis, I'm a dead man. My darling bride has put a moratorium on new miniature games being purchased.

Man, I get long-winded.

See I always liked AD&D 2nd ed, never a fan of 3.x, Not sure that 4th ed is something I will like. The good news if you ask me is that with 4th ed I have seen a lot of newer RPGs that are making up there system from scratch. New Ideas halp drive the industry, keep it fresh. So I hope to see more of that, I remeber when 3.5 came out a lot couple of games that had solid little systems scrapped there core roles and switched to the 3.x band wagon. It was sad...

Yeah... L5R was better off as its first edition game rather than the Oriental Adventure stuff.

In any case, I've never owned a D&D game before, but I can't wait to check out 4th edition! Must be the new gaming group :D

I came to the Con last year (had never heard of it previously, and my first Con ever actually) because there was going to be a World of Warcraft CCG tournament there. I didn't really check out much else since I only found out about the Con a few days before it started.

I'm a big RPG lover and haven't gamed since I moved to Arizona (about 4 years ago now). I'm hoping to get some gaming in at this years event.

I wish someone would run some Palladium stuff though :(

Also, I like the 3e and 3.5e D&D, it made the system much easier and more streamlined in my opinion. Much more friendly for new folks, I think. I haven't been keeping up with it lately, so I'm not sure about 4.

I wish that someone could be me, but today I learned that I will be missing this Con entirely (this year).

*sigh* I'm stuck at the Luxor here in Vegas at least until the end of June. Not much I can do with work usually being so scarce for stagehands in the summer unless you have a gig lined up like this one.

I'll try to plan for next year and running maybe some Rifts, Robotech, and/or Heroes Unlimited 2. I've run all three at Origins (when we lived in Ohio), so I'm kind of accustomed to running one-off adventures in those games.

Heh. Maybe this time I won't forget my books, character sheets, and notes at home.

Shooting for 2009, durnit!

Rune Katana - May 28, 2008 11:14 PM (GMT)
Doh, sorry to hear you can't make it. I'll definitely keep my eye out for your games next year though.

Nihilistic Mind - June 6, 2008 06:09 AM (GMT)
I like a lot of the Palladium books and settings but haven't played them in years!

If only my friend was more partial to GMing at cons... He has a ton of Palladium stuff but has been pretty obsessed with Scion rpg lately.

Well, I chose "social" because I like laidback things like Apple to Apples and such.

(Also, it was the one I figured drinking games would go under)

RPGs of course....just because of the freedom. I mean, how many times can you play a board game before it become mechanical?

(And once again...the drinking. The best way to get into character is to forget who you are!)

Nihilistic Mind - June 8, 2008 05:11 AM (GMT)
Lol, I'm starting to think you may have a drinking problem... Well maybe it's a gaming problem :P j/k!

Personal favorite drinking games: Drunken Jenga, Home Movies Drinking Game.
They're a blast!*

disclaimer: * for people over 21.

I love really getting into character when I role play...so it sorta makes sense that I'd be a Larper. Also love Pictionary w/Apples to Apples cards, puzzles, board games...
