Title: Goblin Feats Of Strength!

Silver - October 23, 2009 02:19 AM (GMT)
Well after the tournament last week, I can say the most epic moments were by my Goblins, not by my orcs!

A single Spider Rider remains, after being shot by Glade guards.

Dryads go for the 35 extra points they can get from killing that single model.
1 Dryad is in reach, 2 hits,.... NO WOUNDS!
I strike back and.. what? I kill it! haha.

So they outnumber me but I dealt one wound, its a TIE! And guess which model remained? The Musician! The wood elf fails his break test (rolls 8, needed 7 or less) and I catch up 8 dryads~ yay!

In that same game on turn 1.. Tricky Trinket Chariot smahed through all 8 War Dancers, 4+ ward save? Not anymore! [:<

So, have your goblins done anything impressive lately?

destroyed my freinds dwarven gunline. I won by a massacre, think he claimed 150-225 points in a 2000 pt game :D

Ive had my goblin wolf riders (unit of 5 with music) wipe out Blood knights (unit of 5 plus full command) in one turn of battle...they had their flanks exposed thanks to frenzy, so i charged with my spears =)

Gribnit - October 23, 2009 08:13 AM (GMT)
In my last game my 30 strong night goblin unit with spears and nets took a charge from 10 inner circle with full command, netted them, giggled then poked them to bits :-)

Three goblin wolf riders shot a high elf general on a warsteed in one volley, backwards! That was in the days wolfriders were still fast cavalry.

@gobbos4life
:o

@Gribnit
How does net affect the InnerCircle Knights (Str:6)?
Str:6=>Str:5
Str:5/Tho:3 @2+

1) I targetted my rock lobber at a nice big juicy unit of Dwarf warriors. The guess was spot on dead centre of the unit. The scatter was not good, for me it moved the hit right out of the unit I targetted. For my son it landed the final hit dead centre on top of his tolled up slayer character and wiped him out.

2) A unit of 20 NG archers took a charge from dwarf warriors with a Thane and thanks to some good dice for me and bad for him they won combat. The warriors failed their break test and fled off the table. No Gobbos lost and that combat won me the game.

On a side note Wolf riders are fast cavalry unless you equip them with shields.

cheers

I had quite a few with my goblins the coolest one i had was my wolfriders roll a 6 on their annimosity and the charge into dryads, they win combat by 3 or something, the dryads break and the wolfriders run them down. Not that inmpressive right? Well the overrun takes my wolfriders in the flank from his treeman. I do one wound on the treeman with my wolves, he kills a few and the result is a tie, but the treeman hasn't any talent to play on a instrument so my wolfriders win because they have a musician.

My opponent takes two dices and rolls... a 9, he takes his tape and measures. The treeman is in range of his bsb so he rolls again... a 10. The treeman breaks and he runs 2" my wolfriders run him down.

Does 6th edition count? :P

I had arranged my whole night gobbos in 30s to prevent panic from shooting and magic of Dark Elves. As he had placed his dragon in the center of my battle line, whole my army fled because of terror.

In the next game with same opponent, he spotted that my army was same as previous. But he underestimated the sneakiness of gobbos and placed his dragon exactly in the center of my battle line again. Before rolling for terror my general drank Battle Brew. Brew was granting Ld:10 at the 6th edition army book. So all my gobbos passed terror easily. Next turn gobbos charged, broke the dragon and overran. ;)

Thats what I call a sneaky goblin! (btw, I miss that brew so much :()

Oi,
6th round, I'm loosing badly, my wolfriders made 18" charge on rear of Grails with general and another paladin. Goblins managed to kill one knight, Grails missed. So I got +1 for kills+2 for rear charge, they got outnumber, standard and warbanner. But I've got hornblower! They failed break test and were run down! 900 VP for me! yay.

It was about a year ago, but I was in a tournament against DE. He had placed a DE sorceress on steed in one corner with woods in the middle of the table. First turn, I get to go first. My spider riders rush through the woods. They are barely within 16" of the sorceress. Two 6's! Two wounds! Two failed armor saves. Dead Lvl 2 before he even had a chance to move!

Oh I love these! My additions:

3 Spider Riders charge a Hag BSB with Cauldron, the goblins miss but the spiders poisoned her to death, guess she was allergic to spider bites or something.

A puny little Night Gobbo big boss accepts a challenge from an ironbreaker champion, and strikes with 5 s6 attacks, squish! Overkill bonuses for the win! (He had Shaga's Screamin' Sword, and 2 characters were in a unit not too far away)

Fanatics that wipe out entire units in one brutal strike! (okay not so mighty deed because it was a unit of 5 gutter runners or something like that, skirmishing rats without any kind of save..)

Earlier this year I played a 1750 tournament game against a Lizardmen army with 6 Stegadons :cheese:

I got the charge on one Steg with my Fanatic Delivery System (21 Night Gobbos, muso, fanatics already gone). Did no damage whatsoever (anyone surprised?) he missed his hits, I win by 4, he fails his cold-blooded leadership test, and gets run down. We both laughed so hard at that one...
The best thing was it happened again, but with 28 gobbos full command. Still didn't wound it, won by 2 or 3, chased it down. :o

my Regular (Guard) Goblins survived a charge by Chaos nights (had to break test at 3)..............and the next turn thrashed them, killing 2 (how did that happen????) and routed them.

I plucked Eltharion off his mount with a single chukka shot last weekend. Poor griffin was so sad it just sat down there and cried for the rest of the battle. :)

Yesterday's game: (Empire + Wood Elves) vs (Skarsnik's Gobbos + Gorbad's Boyz) 4000 vs 4000

My predictable WE opponent had his Wardancer Lord in his wardancers. I know that he always uses a net spite (hit only on 6 in challange) and a talisman (3+ Ward Save until failed)

My Big boss on gigantic squig with his hoppers gobbos charged this unit. As usual he daclared a challange. We rolled one 6. But he had akrit axe, so we re-rolled misses and second 6 came. We easily wounded him with str:5. He was so confident of Ward Save, he took his dices. He was shocked when I told him that I had trinkes trinket. There was one wound left. And guess what? Squig also managed a hit! And easily slayed him as he had no talisman protecting him. :P

Akrit Axe + Tr.Trinket rocks!

The problem is he had chosen asf. And he was so unlucky that he couldnt kill my boss. I had to find a solution on protection.

This week I had my first game against Chaos 2kpts on the weekend. No magic items. No spells.

I used 3 units of goblins (25 n.goblins with 2 fanatics, 30 goblins with cmd and shield, 10 wolf riders with hero) and the rest orcs with a goblin BSB and an Orc warboss.

Anywho, 25 goblins with 2 fanatics stopped a herd of Chaos nights with a lord for 2 turns while my artillery (2 chukkas and a doom diver) decimated them.

My orcs got into combat with another set of Chaos nights and kept them there and the Goblins rushed to get on their flank and kill one. Then they were charge by a full unit of Chaos warriors with a here and everyone held. Awesome. I eventually beat them once the orc swathed their way through the last nights.

On the far right side, I had 10wolves including hero. I got the charge on the dire wolves who fled and attacked his light calvary with hero with my wolves with hero. I beat them up twice and moved on to take out a unit of Ogres on their flank. They were awesome!

Total Massacre and it was all due to my 3 units of goblins and artillery, with a bit of help from my Orc warboss.

A Night Gobbo big boss on great cave squig, with the One hit wunda and tricksy trinket killing a daemon prince :). Thanks to that, the nearby unit of marauders broke and ran off the board, including the sorceror!

In a game agianst lizardmen, the same boss charged a unit of temple guard. It had been depleted to about 10 men. The boss charged in killing the slann and running down the unit! This swung the game from a loss to a draw.

Morgor The Mangler - November 17, 2009 02:36 PM (GMT)
First game against new skaven yesterday. A spear chucka killed a doomwheel and made 2 units of slaves panic and run into rocks and a close combat.

A rocklobber hurled a big tasty rock against the thrice-cursed hell pit abomination, I hit, I wound, he fails to regenerate, and I roll 6 wounds! It is dead!........ or so I thought, it got right up with 5 wounds, brushed off the dust and destroyed my entire right flank..

:P

Sunday my general won me the game in turn 6, I was facing a dark elf army with a shade unit with 3 lv2's in it( one gave mr3, one Itp and one half ballistic skill) and 3 assasins. I lured the unit close to the hill where my general was hiding behind, in my turn 6 I call waaagh and my general moves 5" close enough so he can't stand and shoot and I break the unit and run them down,

the game ended with a minor victory for me, his clubmates where laughing with him cause he had lost to goblins who continued to do wel and where playing on table 2 in the last round :).

(still) winning by a large margin, a huge Night Goblin versus Dwarf campaign that has had countless games and played for a couple of years already!
Of course, with all the restrictions of only being Night Goblins!

So that's a big medal to the general leadership of Skabdag Stinkreaka.

The campaign is far from over...

Night Goblin archers for the win! Playing against Wood Elves, his treeman was in the middle of a stand of trees doing the "Tree-singing Bus" trying to get close enough to strangleroot while hiding from my bolt-throwers. To stop this I ran a unit of 20 NG archers with 1 fanatic right up to the edge of the woods, and launched the fanatic off to the side towards a unit of Glade Riders comiing down my flank. Treeman charges out, and the archers make their terror roll and stand pat. (Figured what the heck? If they ran they were going to get caught anyway, and it would still be a cheap way to get the Big Lumber out of the protective trees). In combat they managed to do a single wound, and the treeman did none. Won combat by 4 (3 ranks + mass) - Treeman rolls an 11 on his break test. Running back through the trees he rolls a 4 for his flee distance, and was run down by the weedy archers.

My story was that the NG had hatchets and just swarmed all over the flee treeman, chopping him into kindling.
