Title: O&g Rumours
Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull - October 22, 2009 03:48 PM (GMT)
These are just things I heard from my local shop keeper
Some armies will get a 2nd/ 3 rd wave
OnG will be after this wave full plastic he said or will at least get a few things
Plastic boar boyz, both types
Plastic savage orcs are also on the list.
Skaven will get a plastic vermin lord in their second wave( and we still need to get their first wave:p)
And it will be released in the summer of 2010, I hope this is true :)

They owe us new boar boys and plastic savages. Plus I think they would sell very nicely indeed. I'll keep my fingers crossed, like I have been doing for, oh, about five years!
WarbossKurgan - October 22, 2009 08:06 PM (GMT)
Oh good Gork, if they do plastic Savages for real, I may have to start a new OnG army! :o
Groznit Goregut - October 23, 2009 01:04 AM (GMT)
I've been waiting for plastics savage orcs.
I just bought my first 5 savage orc boar boyz, too! I will be getting new boar boyz and savage boar boyz, though. *sigh* I do have something like 22 boar boyz already....
There was some sort of rumor on Warseer, too, about plastic squigs, too! Oh, I did just finally order my first herders, too! :D
I guess I start to buy things and that means they will come out with a new version!
Draig - October 23, 2009 01:28 AM (GMT)
Plastic squigs would be entirely too good to be true!
Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull - October 23, 2009 02:17 PM (GMT)
Plastic squiqs would be sweet, plastic hoppers :), I need 10 more for my army so it would be nice to have a cheaper alternative.
Also I heard there is a possibility that we get grom the paunch back in plastic :o

The sooner the wave the better. I cant wait :D

Dagnabbit! I just accumulated enough metal boar boys and savage boar boys to actually use them!
Grumble mutter snarl...

With thirteen units still in metal, it would be one monstrous bunch of sprues released all at once to make the army all plastic. ;)

Yeah treu, but I think the shop keeper probably meant that the more common units will get in plastic, I don't see the need for plastic rock lobbers and chukka's.
But we can cross our fingers for the plastic savages and boar boyz, those are the units I want the most( not that I need more :P).

It would be nice if GW finally released plastic boar boyz :D Current savego boar riders have nice minis, but 5th edition plastic boars look like furry, harmed by mother nature ponies ;)

8th edition to be Released in July/August 2010
Box set will contain Empire and Orcs/goblins
Orcs and Goblins will have a new book prior to the release date with some new models (plastic boar riders).
Empire also has new knights in the works that will be released in the summer. |
Finally they'll come out with new boars, hopefully this will also spurn GW to make boar boyz cheaper and/or better in terms of points cost.

| Not to drop a bomb or anything, but yes, 8th edition will be out next summer with a new boxed set in the fall. I’ve heard Empire vs. Orks in the box with a new O&G book out in Q1 2010. Plastic Empire Knights and Orc Boar boys will be in the new set I’ve heard. They keep one-upping themselves with the box sets so I would expect a mountain of amazing plastics in the new starter set. |
Reading over the original thread
http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/showthread.php?t=2911 I'm wondering if they didn't mean new O&G book in Q1 2011. Which is less exciting, but still something.
Count Geblin - October 31, 2009 08:12 PM (GMT)
Oooh this will mean that I will be broke, but I won't mind a new book that would mean more shiney models for my army.

Harry on Warseer agreed with the edition stuff but casts doubts on the O&G book.... at least in the context of Q1 2010 release...

Yes, as most have figured out I had a brain fart and typed 2010 when I meant 2011.
I’ll reiterate what I’ve said several times here and elsewhere. Anything outside of 6 months is at best informed speculation. I will back up what Harry has said and can confirm with 99% certainty that O&G and Empire will be the two armies in the 8th edition Starter Set and it will be out in September 2010. The 8Th edition hardcover however will be out in June, after Beastmen who will be the last 7th edition army, but not really 7th edition just as Skaven aren’t really 7th edition. |
on 5th page of the thread I think, so Q1 2011 for O&G, that's good news, if they can get it right this time -_-
Backstabba Zog - November 1, 2009 10:50 AM (GMT)
Whoo! sweet. A new O&G book in only 1 and a bit years, :yarr!: Thats very exciting indeed. Lets just hope they get the book right.
Then again its not like they can get away with making the book worse, now is there.
I hope Forest gobbo's return.
cheers.

Probably! New goblins and wolfriders would be nice for many gamers to look more like the new nightgoblins and spider riders.
I hate the new models so I have to buy some boxes of "old" goblins now! :)
Did the same when nighgobbos come, emptyed the stores around me!
Draigula - November 1, 2009 06:37 PM (GMT)
I just hope they take some time over this one and get the book right. I don't necessarily want to be the new Demons and smite everything for a while, btu I'd like a solid, middle of the road book that will stand for the whole edition.
So many good ideas have been raised here since 7th came out I just hope they listen to half of them. Personally, I hope they inject a bit more individuality in the style of the 6th edition themed lists. Perhaps following 40ks route with lords effecting what troop choices become. For example taking a nomadic warboss lets you take boar boyz and boar chariots as core but warmachines become rare and you cant take anything on foot etc etc...
stashman - November 1, 2009 07:05 PM (GMT)
Warboss affection:
Nightgoblin Warboss General
Squig Hoppers and Squigherders becomes Core
Trolls become Special
Goblin Warboss General
Spearchukka and Rock Lobba becomes Core
Doom Diver becomes Special
Orc Warboss General
Boar Chariot and Orc Boar Boyz become Core
Snotling Pumpwagons become Special
*I really hope for Squgherds to become Skirmish (loose rank bonus, but makes more sense in gaming terms).
*That Grimgor has to be General as long as there is none other with higher leadership.
*Redo the ORC choice. Still 5 pts, but add:
The unit may be equipped with: Additional Choppa +2, Spear +1 or Bow +1
The unit may be equipped with shields +1
One unit can be upgraded to Big Uns +2 pts /model (4 is a bit high!!!)
That gives an opportunity to have units with bow and shield.
*Lower the price on Bows to 1 for savge orcs
*Redo goblins. Hand Weapon + Light Armour for 2 pts
*Orc Boar Boyz price lowered to 18 and +4 for Big Un.
*Savage Orc Boar Boyz. I have never ever seen a unit without Spears! Add spear to them and lower price to 20. +2 for shields and +4 for Big Uns.
*Furious Charge (orcs only)
Add rankbonus to leadership when charging Fear and Terror causing units.
*Ard Mob (goblins only)
If a goblin is general then one goblin unit may carry a magic standard up to 50 points.

Hmmm I wonder if GW actually check the forums for ideas when they write the army books. I am going to warhammer world on tuesday maybe I can corner Jervis Johnson or Phil Kelly and give them a list of thing Da Warpath want in the new army book maybe follow up with some threats ^_^
Okay maybe not the threats :D
Then again I am not sure they would listen to a weedy 13 year old kid. I may need back up.

I just hope a new army book won't mean we have to buy loads of new models again.

Yeah I agree with that totally. I have a friend who collects Skaven and he blew all his cash on the old Skaven clanrats (this was beofre the rumours started) and now he is stuck with them and hasn't the cash to buy any of the new models.
I really don't want that to happen to me :D

myself i was instantly P-eed off with the current army book when i looked at the wolf riders.
Now with shields they dont count as FC anymore
in the previous book they could have shields, but no light armour.
Count Geblin - November 2, 2009 01:47 PM (GMT)
I will have a problem anyway when we get a new book, it will mean new shiney minis and I know that I will want them all in my collection . I really should find profesional help for my greenskin addiction.

If you are happy with your models it doesn't matter if they become 'out dated', just as long as their equipment looks right (and they are based correctly) there is no reason why you shouldn't stay happy with them.
In fact for OnG its a pretty cool thing; each unit can look like a different tribe, hence having a different look.
Groznit Goregut - November 3, 2009 03:46 AM (GMT)
Let's just hope that they don't want to level set the system again and start off with a new edition that is down in power since the power creep is so bad. That's how they always start off and then creep their way back up to the crazy lists. I've never seen an unbalanced OnG or an Empire army as they are the first to come out all the time. It's when you start getting into the 2nd year that they go crazy. I almost want to see OnG come out late....just so we can get the crazy lists! Put DE, Demons, and VC first.
Skartooth The Third - November 3, 2009 07:43 AM (GMT)
I would have to say that I don't agree with you there Goreguts. I don't wan't to be the one with the amazing new army that smashes everything and ruins people's day. Think about it as soon as we get a powerfull army everyone will jump on the band wagon and start to play O&G. I don't know about you guys but I chose O&G as an army by looking at the models and reading the fluff. I loved it and so O&G are the army for me. What I am trying to say is that I am scared that people would come along and play O&G to win not caring about the models and the fluff this tends to happen alot with the Vampire and Dark Elf players. Those poor age old Vampire Count player who have been playing them for years finally got and update and what happened. Everybody wanted the new Vimpre Counts.
Please don't let this happen to O&G I think we deserve to not have a band-wagon.

Two very valid posts. I myself would be happy to be somewhere in the middle if the current power creep trend continues.

I've not been playing OnG long, but TBH there's not a lot I'd ask for in a new army book.
- Black Orc Warbosses make Black Orcs core
- Common Orc Warbosses remove restrictions on big 'uns
- Goblin Warbosses allow Goblins to gain the same rank WAAAGH bonuses as Orcs.
- Have Choppa +1 Strength rule be changed to a native Orc +1 Strength in the 1st round of combat. This would make a significant change to Orcs armed with weapons other than Choppas such as GW on Blorcs or Spear armed Orcs mounted or otherwise.
- Keep animosity more or less as it is but allow non-Blorc Bosses (possibly just the general) to re-roll it.
- Shift the focus of OnG magic so that there's fewer missiles/damage spells and more boosting or nuisance spells. For instance Goblin magic could be focused on disrupting the enemies battle plans/units whereas Orc magic focuses on boosting OnG units.
- Add a magic banner or magic spell/bound item that allows OnG to re-roll fear/terror tests.
- Introduce Black Orc cavalry as a rare choice (even if we don't get mini's for them straight away). IMO it makes no sense that the most professional Orcs don't field any cavalry, you could even make them special with a Blorc Warboss
- My last idea could be controversial (maybe not here) but make Orcs and Goblins units whom outnumber their enemy stubborn.
That's the main ideas I've come up with. I think GW will fiddle with the magic items and points as they see fit but if they did the above list I'd be over the moon.
Groznit Goregut - November 3, 2009 06:35 PM (GMT)
I still think that Animosity and the Waaagh! are the worst Army Wide Rules per any army book. That needs to change. If you have an All Cavalry Waaagh!, you don't want to call it as it will destroy an entire unit if you roll a "1".
They need to remove all the magic items that hurt the user.
Wait a second......the thread right below this one is for this type of a thing....
