Title: New Boar Boyz T-1 Year
Description: Campaign and Cavalry
fauthsie - September 1, 2009 06:54 PM (GMT)
A rumour popped up today on Warseer about next summer having a major campaign to possibly tie into 8th edition. Along with this is a slew of Wave release for various armies all built around Cavalry
DE- Dark Rider
Empire- Knights (possibly War Alter)
O&G- Wolf Riders (possibly Boars)
WOC- Chariot/Warshine (same kit???)
DOC- Seekers
VC- Black Knights
Dwarves- Forgeworld Airship???
All would be done in plastic (possible exception is the airship)

I think that our wolf rider models look decent enough, I don't think they should be re-made they should re-make the savage orcs before them at least. But, the boar boyz is a nice idea, hopefully they become plastic :D.

Sheesh 8th edition already? How many years has 7th been out?

I agree. The wolf riders are cool enough models but Savages look more goofy than savage.
What I would really like to see is a sprue in the orc boyz box for customizing your boyz.
I would be happy to see new seekers too. As the father of 2 young girls I find the current ones offensive. If I was seeing a game of Warhammer for the first time and saw those I would be turned off to the game and would probably not have even started playing. Other than immaturity there really is no reason for the way these models look.
On the other hand I love the squig hopper with his back cheeks in the air!

Three years now, four years by then. General consensus is that 7th edition is broken anyway with the massive power creep, so I'm keen on what 8th edition will bring us.
Even better: a new starter box with new models at a great discount!
DrogDrogDrog - September 2, 2009 02:35 PM (GMT)
I read through the entire post they arent predicting gobbo cavalry, they are predicting new plastic boar boyz that can be assembled as either savage or regular boar boyz. For some reason the guy who made the original post refers to "Orcs and Goblins" as just "Goblins."

What on earth is wrong with the current edition. If it gets updated we all have to go out and buy a new £30 rulebook

Yes, but the new edition will come with a new start boxed set. Greenskins are usually one of the races in it. I'd be happy to get a lot of cheap, new minis!
kjj1988 - September 3, 2009 11:31 PM (GMT)
Agreed with all, I am desperately hoping for some plastic boar boys. The current models look terrible and are waaaay to expensive.
And I personally can't wait for 8th edition to role around. I am getting sick of playing monsterhammer. I would welcome some changes in the game, hopefully they include a 40k-like mechanic to make core coices more worthwhile.

Exactly. That's how GW makes money, cos they know everybody will buy the new edition.
Actually 7th would just need some fixes wich could be a PDF download and all would be fine.

The could actually make a lot of money using this type of format and save us money at the same time. some sort of $10-$15 to download. Or how may of us would pay a subscription to download the latest books and updates. It would be a nice steady revenue stream and would cut out alot of the stuff that goes along with publishing hard copies.
At any rate I don't see how a new main rule book is going to fix the current state of warhammer without having to wait for new army books. BTW I don't really mind the way things are right now. I seem to be having moderate success and I enjoy the challenge.
Groznit Goregut - September 4, 2009 12:05 PM (GMT)
I agree that army books are the main source of problems these days. The main rule book could do something like make large creatures +2 to hit or something. Or make war machines easier to hit with. That could help curb the Monsterhammer.
I will say that the talk on Warseer is about some sort of rules update that would come out with the summer campaign. I think that could be cool. It could do things like tweak some of the magic lores in all the books. It could make boar boyz either cheaper or better.
Tokamak - September 4, 2009 12:47 PM (GMT)
The rumours got a bit skewed.
The dude said 'a goblin upgrade' which may or may not include wolf-riders.
And seriously, give me monsterhammer of herohammer any time. There's also nothing wrong with boar-riders, it's just that nobody is willing to pay for them.

dunno if anyone noticed, but plastic squigs popped up in that same thread as being 'confirmed' by the same guy who confirmed the boar boys. everyone seems to think he's a credible/reliable source, so *shrug*.
Gnosis - September 13, 2009 07:29 PM (GMT)
I can see O&G and Empire, both propped as the 'noob-friendly' WFB armies, to go all plastic when the new edition hits. Perhaps we get those two armies in the main box again? On the other hand, I can see the likes of Bretonnia versus Beastmen happening as well, given that they are both the oldest armies.
Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull - September 13, 2009 09:32 PM (GMT)
Well let's hope that these rumours are true then:)

Did GW present plastic squigs???
Grupas - September 14, 2009 06:40 PM (GMT)
even more squigs will make it in my army then :P
- plastic cuttable squigs; inmagine the possibilities
Skartooth The Third - September 14, 2009 06:46 PM (GMT)
Plastic sqiugs would be amazing and so would plastic boar boyz :D
But somehow I doubt GW will make them
Ahh well there is a chance

Skullfaced - September 27, 2009 09:43 PM (GMT)
My only resentment against the plastic and mixed box set of boar/savage boar boyz is the price. If they include the possibility of either in the same box that means price looks like its going to be 55-60 dollar US? while now if i wanted savage boar boyz i would only have to pay i think it was 38 dollars for 5 SSB with full command. :/ sadface
Gnosis - September 28, 2009 12:47 PM (GMT)
Well, here's an idea: new plastic Savage Orcs and Boar Boyz. Combine the kits to make Savage Orc Boar Boyz. But let's wait and see, of course.
Arfa - September 29, 2009 12:59 AM (GMT)
Ive heard rumours from a reliable source that they are seriously considering putting off the 8th edition and instead release their 'BFSP' equivalent as a campaign box rather than a new edition, as everyone seems to be very happy with this edition of the core rules and its only up to the individual army books that need altering.
Pictures of new boar boyz were released a few months ago, although it was unclear as to whether it would be savage or regular, as there were no riders. They've said they want to fix the scale of the common goblins to be in line with the NGs too, so I recon we'll see some of them although Im not sure if mounted or not.

I hope u're right Arfa, I'd love to see new gobbies released, current ones just seem really out of place

I demand cheaper boar boy z (both money and cost in points!)
