Title: Thoughts About The Warboss Kit
Description: they are mostly negative :)

It has come to my attention that the boar from the warboss kit has no nostrils. I also noticed that the legs to make the foot boss are less well sculpted than any of the legs in either the Orc or Ork regiment boxes.

Now I am capable of drilling some nostrils, but for a 20 dollar kit I expect better. Granted I'm using the Boar as a mount for my BoarBoy Boss (I bought it loose for 5 bucks) and it's less important to be glamorous, but it seems more in line with the quality of the Skulls Pass models rather than say the newer Empire Models.

I hate to be a moaning minnie, but well!!!

I agree,

The nostrils, not an issue for me. But I have two of these tacked together waiting glue and greenstuff and both seem like pretty sloppy fits. There are some nasty gaps to fill and they are in spots that will need some reasonable scultping to fit the GS in so you don't notice its there.

I also think that the choices in heads and other body bits are pretty boring and dont lift it much above the average Orc.

This will end up being my BSB mount. The second one might be my Shaman yet. My Warboss will be on that nice new wyvern (hurry September).

Cheers

I can't even bring myself to use it as a character mode, I'm going to wait for that groovy new boar that was in the same case as the resin Azhag sculpt:) It's just the mount of my regular BB Boss. The weapons that came with it are nice and big though.

The older metal warboss on a boar model is my BB Standard Bearer.

I use the Wurrzag model as my Great Shaman - I love that mask!

My Warboss is on foot these days. I used the 40k warboss model. He's extremely big and that's how I like my Orc Lords.

I want the new wyvern too - it's lush!

I agree with your feelings about the boar and characters.

For me its a case of getting my first army off the ground and trying little conversions here and there to build some skill before I really try to make a unique and characterful mini to hold down one of my character slots. So the Boar will do for now I guess. I have some big ideas for stuff down the track though.

Cheers

For people who are new to the hobby it's certainly a great place for them to start with having an actual model for their characters.

Personally, although I was excited about the release, when I saw it, and THEN when the Empire General came along, I was very disappointed... I still reckon if Brian Nelson had sculpted it, we'd have had the best plastic general model!

That said, the Plastic Warboss from the Assault on Black Reach set converts VERY nicely into a Black Orc Warboss (see my blog on that subject to see what I mean!), so I'm very happy with my Characters ^_^

I've seen your black reach conversion, it is masterful. The 40k line is gorgeous - the Wyrdboy makes a GREAT shaman (as does the AOW one but that's another story). A couple of the Burna Boys have kickass alternate Blorc helms.

With the two ranges combined there's plenty of character models out there to choose from for sure.

I would also like a Gorbad Ironclaw too, he's a lovely model with a great boar but he's 45 everlovin' dollars. I wish I was rich. Or invisible :).

I use the plastic warboss kit as my normal boar big'uns, I have 5 of them so it is no problem for me :), but I will never use it as a character it is just to small.

Too few parts, too stupid horns, but it's the spear being in a throwing position that really annoys me.

"'ere lads, dis is the famed Stikka uv Porko 'imself! Wotch this!"
*Splutch*
"...uh, boss..."
"Dun' worry, I'll punch 'em to bits! WAAAGH!"

It doesn't work for me. The spear head makes a great sword, though.

Still, the Warboss I made from the kit (with the massive topknot head from Black Reach that some Nob had, and a mace) looks pretty good with the boyz.
