Title: I Think We Should Ship The Pirates Off To Gw
Description: It would be fun to use in tourneys

I think the pirate list is brilliant and it inspired me to start a pirates army. There is just one problem, its not a legal army list to use! Please consider sending to GW to be published.

Its an unofficial list and will remain that way.

The pirate list was developed to give you a fun way to play a game of warhammer in a differnt way. If your opponent is ok with you using the army there are no problems. However we will never see pirate orcs winning tournaments.

GW won't produce this list as its unofficial and not made by them. But as I said you shouldn't find it hard to get your opponent to use the rules. And if you want to take the models to tournaments just make them represent normal orc and goblin models with a theme.

GW have explicit rights to the creation of official rules, and they strongly say so. They encourage the making of rules for the purposes of fun, friendly battles, but will never publish them or support them in any way. This is plastered all over their strict copywright laws thingy. As you can see in the book, we've had to put that it is an unnoficial list at the top of every page so that there is no way that people can think its official. I would absolutely love to give it to GW, but it isnt really that usefull.

That said, please do feel free to post links to it in any other forum you like, although make sure you say 'unnoficial' to avoid legal issues :P

Thanks for stating that you like the list though, your comments inspire us to do more after all! ^_^

Howdy

I agree its "all for fun".

But don't forget one of our members wrote the 'unofficial' stuff for dust gobbos, et al. that was published awhile back. And there is always the 'go check out..." type stuff that occasionally appears in BG or WD.... Just saying....

And can I say one more time - DAMN GOOD WORK!!! That thing looks friggin awsome.

So, yeah, we do it for love. And if GW secretly links folks, who are we to complain? :P

peace :D

Well it is fun to use but I don't think that gw ever would make an unofficial list legal, altough I don't think they wil forbid it. But if somebody has connections by gw we can show it to them and you never know they advertise it.

Yah. Maybe if we had enough people show their support at a games workshop or through e-mail they would consider it. I mean chaos already has 2 army books that are interchangeable, why can't other armies go by the same strategy. If anything, I think they should encourage stuff like this...

They make it very clear that they are not interested in being sent home-made lists to be made "official". It's in their submission guidelines.

But it would be really nice to know what they think! :D

well i dont mean that i want it to be an official list... but i mean i would LOVE to be like "Some of te players on my forum made this army book for Orc Pirates and they gave me permission to show you the list. Would you tell me what you think of it?" BTW what was all the "turning in stuff to WD US" about?

WarbossKurgan - April 20, 2006 12:41 PM (GMT)
Feel free to print the List and show it to everyone!

The WD thing was for an article in the US edition. I'm not sure how far it got though!
